Where's our legends?
Hey everyone, I wanted to share some love and concern for our diecast racing family! As a community, it's essential we look out for each other and stay updated on what's happening. That's why I'm reaching out about one of our legends, Skyway. It's been over a year since we've heard from him, and we're all wondering what's going on. If anyone has any info or knows what's happening, please let us know! Skyway, if you're reading this, we miss you and want to hear from you too! Let's show some love and support for our fellow family member.
Discussion
The short version is that his work union went on strike for a prolonged time, leaving less and less space in his life to pursue diecast racing. We even saw how he had stepped down in terms of studio area and set design for filming prior to going dark
Our legend, whom we dearly miss, poured a lot of resources into delivering content of such quality as he did, enhanced by a highly transferable and relevant skill set developed elsewhere from the hobby
It's a lesson to us all, that even with the lofty passion and expertise in the world it may not be enough to continue even a successful channel if outside forces press too strongly. Cherish every creator out there whose work you enjoy and admire for real life may suddenly have other ideas
The other thing to keep in mind is that this is still just a hobby...the time and effort it takes to film, edit, and produce a 15 minute video is immense...see the post regarding the iceburg...to continue pumping out high quality videos can be exhausting, and in the end can actually detract from the enjoyment of it all. As has been mentioned above...life does have a way of getting in the way of this hobby, and sometimes the void that this hobby has helped fill...is no longer needed...
the contributions of those that are no longer around however, are what lead to your characterizations of "LEGENDS"
- Of all the things on the iceberg, the overhead of creating content was the probably the biggest part of why I quit hosting. If your hobby is media production, then the racing part is easy, lol — redlinederby

- One thing about this crazy hobby that I find interesting is the range of production value values across many channels. From simple and Lofi channels like jungle Falls or comet tail you both do a great job with a very simple presentation. Up to the top tier gravity throttle racing, and the bot maker boys with their ultra high-end cameras, themes plots in backgrounds. Would you have to do was find a spot somewhere in that spectrum that works for you and is fun. I will be attempting that in the coming year. — AbbyNormal
For many of us life is always 1st. I myself I know have slowed down with the rate I send out entries simply because I have to prioritize other more important things, and this is simply for those who only mod cars. For those that mod cars + host on their own track that only just adds to the workload.
- I definitely bit off more than I could chew when I decided to do 2 classes of cars for my racing series. Hopefully 2026 season is more streamlined. — HSLmotorsports

I read the above and it hit's close to home (ghosted it for 3 days)
this summer was interesting, and enlightening. clearing land (and cars) to see what I have,
I let Goat Hill stall because of that, sorry guys
I realized when cars were comin' in I was (SO!!!!!) disorganized, and worse needed space.
So, needing to clear shelves upstairs where Goat Hill is, I realized it was worse than the back 40
In all really, there are easily over 1k books, many 80-100+ years old that I've been sending them to good homes.
(anyone want an old book pm me with subject, just pay for shipping)
First season was shot in about 200 sq ft, I had to fix that, it was chaos, and worse,
not fun. liquidating the books gives me the space I need.
looking so good, a couple other things, (finding dad's airplane plans from 50's to donate)
and I can get the hill lit up, I miss it! my fun.
As CC said "a void was filled...", well, my track will have to fill a void
one created as (this summer) a list was made of un-doable stuff that needs to go.
outta time and $$$
the organization is because ....y'all will know if.... well, lets not talk about this anymore.
dream big, own up to reality, and mainly, have fun

It's sad watching all these racers moving on to other pursuits, or just losing interest in the hobby.
At least Big Poppy did the right thing and made a final video saying he was getting out of diecast racing, that he was moving on. Eveeryone else? Crickets.
