Working headlights in our cars...

EnZedRacing Saturday, 8/10/2024

Just a quick one everyone....ive seen a few cars with headlights and/or police lights in their 1/64 race cars.

I have the lights but that's it. Where can I buy the switch and battery set up to make them work??

I tried the local electronics store and they only had AA battery holders...nothing smaller.

Can I buy them on ebay and if so, what are they called.

Cheers,  Mike.

Two places for electro goodies

www.adafruit.com

www.sparkfun.com

Aliexpress carries all the stuff you need... from the batteries to switches and leds...

  • Can easily buy 1000 of them for $2 :) I'm after the name of the parts so I can find them. I'm a Noob with this subject so any buzz words that I can throw into the search bar will be well received. — EnZedRacing

TechNickL Designs on Facebook has a comprehensive complete set up I believe. It was one of the first I saw years ago piece it all together. Some have headlights, taillights, and roof lights

I also have been looking at lights
have done some experiments
if you use led's and a button battery,
this is what I was gonna do.  use a wood paddle drill to make a recess in a piece of plastic thicker than the battery,
put wire thru the guide hole, wad stripped end of wire, solder to a lump bigger than the hole
bend flat stock as top contact
the switch is a piece of plastic inserted between upper contact and battery

  • in theory, should be tough enough to handle a crash of two — dr_dodge
  • also have thought you could put a cap in the car, rather than a battery, and "charge it up" (like crash track race cars, or sizzlers) — dr_dodge

  • Thanks Dr D...I'm trying to find where to buy the actual battery holders. Your setup looks bloody fantastic so I might give it a go. Cheers mate. — EnZedRacing
