WorpeX Racing Tournament Video!

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

I decided to have some fun and make a video of racing on my track! This is of a 4 car tournament held a few days ago. I'll write up a quick description of each car in the event so that you all get a better background and reasoning as to why I selected these specific cars!

Beginning Of Times.

Lakester: This car has only recently been unpackaged and has yet to see an official tournament! Personally, I am a huge fan of Lakester's and I chose this car because I feel that it could perform well and hopefully it will also promote the design for future tournaments on other tracks!

Sweet 16: This particular car was not even a week old at the time of racing! Not only has it never been in a tournament, but it also was only down the track one or two times! I felt this car is very recognizable and that a lot of players in the Redline community could relate to it since almost everyone here has one.

Shredster: Now, I know i've raved about this car before and even told Brian to pick one up when he finds one. This particular car is a legend on my track. It has the most tournament wins out of any car and won the most prestigious tournament ever raced on this track. It's truely remarkable statistics are only matched by its age. This car has been on this track and racing for over ten years. Let me say that again so that you grasp the full gravity of this, this car has been racing for a decade. However, It has yet to race any of the newer cars, so this race will be an interesting test to see if these 3 new cars can stand up to a legend of yesteryear's. Does age really matter?

Cool video.

My shredsters (3 of them) have yet to earn a victory on my track. They have a combined 0-5 record and have lost against just average cars. Sweet 16 is 5-5 in my races and generally loses against the better cars, so hasn't ever made it into a final 4 of 32 cars being races.

Dieselboy is my topped overall ranked car with a 23-4 record through 11 races with two championships in a 32 car field. I want to try out some of the previous releases of this car, but havent found them yet except on E-Bay. This car does well on the 50 foot club track and won a race and was taken away from us until November.

The camo Lakester is pretty good as well on my track at 10-4 after 5 races, but isnt very good on the 50 foot club track. I think its the weight (lack of) and the open wheels that rub against the track and scrub off the speed that keeps it from doing well there.

Interesting insight! I've only ever seen this Shredster race before, perhaps I just got a lucky pick all those years ago. It's a shame that your's aren't all that good.

The thing I don't like about Lakester's is that they damage easily. In the first race vs Dieselboy in this, the two cars hit each other at the bottom of the ramp and ended up bending one of the Lakester's wheel slightly. Luckily, these wheels are so far away from any metal that small bends don't really hurt it's speed at all (it still won the second race!). I have another Lakester which is also pretty decent and its wheels are a bit funky after having raced it so much. haha.

Interesting that you say the Lakester isn't that good on the 50 foot track. As you can see in the video here, in the first half of the track vs Dieselboy, it actually is behind but ends up catching up and taking the win at the end! I would have expected it to be faster in the longer runs.

Nice vid, WorpeX. Well, it looks like I gotta dig out my Lakester and give `em a 'roll'.

You folks never fail to provide me with "inspiration"(lol)

hello worpex,
i have had a 2nd place finish at austin in july with a PREGNANT lakester, my buddy fred took first on oct.2nd. at grand rapids with a fat fendered '40 on a lakester base BUT, BOTH WERE WEIGHTED AND GLUED TOGETHER, NO RATTLING PARTS OR HEADERS STICKING OUT THE SIDES... NICE WHEELS, [ give 'em a pre spin,] AND AN AREODYNAMIC BELLY.
Also, do you mean sweet 16 or sweet 16 II ? i use the rear wheels (they fall out) from the latter on many of my race cars...
again, try a pre spin ON the rears... model40fan

Thanks WorpeX, that was fun to watch. Nice slo-mo shots. Looks like you're using seamless track cause races look smooth. How long is the track?

Well done video, sir. I wish I had patience to add some extras like that. Lots of cool cars in your stash too, haven't seen several of those.

Thanks guys! The track is 17.5ft long, so its a bit short compared to some of the other tracks on here, but that's about as big as I can go with the space I have. haha. The track isn't seamless, but I do my best to keep it clean and usually have a bottle of windex nearby!

The video actually didn't take that long to make. Only about 2 hours, and only that long because it was the first time I used windows movie maker. The program actually does all the effects for me. It was pretty easy to use.
