XMas Race Off 2012

We decided to start a new tradition with the family where we race our newest cars that we got from Christmas with the winner getting a small prize.

For the first race, this was the prize.

There are some sweet looing all metal Hot Wheels classics that were entered in this first race, they look really nice but are not anywhere close to being a competitive racer. There are some 2013 cars in here as well. I got the Hot One's GT racer, one that I have wanted for a while and like most of the Hot One's I got, this was a dud. I know other people have had scuess with this one. I also got another all metal Vega in the new Flying Customs line. It was just too narrow and went all over the place on the track.

In the final four, the HW Turbo Hauler train (Front and Back sections) was heads and shoulders above all other cars entered. I have had some sucess with hese but nothing like these two on the track. My oldest son won the prize this time around (and got to select the XMas movie to watch with the family).

Here are the pairings.

I will be posting the results from the next race with a different prize that we had.

WOW, both ends of that Turbo Hauler sure are fast!

Thats some good racin' there, iowa.

I can't help but think how I constantly analize diecast vehicles to try to determine weight distribution & balance only to find out that 'success' can be shaped like a brick.

That's an old "Hot Line" train car, isn't it?

Nope, these are the new trains that HWs made. I think they are all under the Hot Wheels Rapid Tranist brand. Not much weight to these at all. I sent one in for a lightweight series race and I think Smitty said it came back as the best one on his dyno, but it never did much in the races.

The Stemin' Demon is entered in the next race that we had.

Here is the 2nd race that we had.

Most of these were new cars, straight out of the package with a few carry overs from the first race to see how they stacked up in this round.
The 71 Plymouth Roadrunner that just missed the final four the first time, didn't lose any of the best 2 of three races until he hit the final race. The poor 70 Camero Z28 has just two losses now and both against the 71 Plymouth Roadrunner.

The Twin Mill 3 is always a consistent racer, no matter what the paint job. It was kind of a weak bracket, but showed he had enough to make it to the final four.

Another train was entered in this race. The front section of the Steamin Demon was pretty weak, but the big, long boxy rear end was very strong and had no losses until it raced up against the eventual champion. Its toughest competition was the 69 Chevelle. That thing could fly.

The eventual champion came out of the last bracket. A brand new Camera car. Its long wide stance on the track helps it scoot down the track. No one was even close to this thing.

My youngest son won this prize pack and got the HW Diner Kit

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

The family had fun doing this and we plan on making it a tradition, racing the new HWs we get from Christmas and then have a competition with a bigger prize package.

The final four for both races went into the currnt season to determine my season champion (11 races of 32 cars each). Then it is onto the race of all races. Watch for a post on this!

Thanks for posting the pairings and giving us all a little more insight as to how cars run against each other on different tracks. Were these races on the "Triple C Short Track"?

Yes, that is the track.
