About Hosting a Tournament Race

Mario_Kartz Saturday, 5/2/2020

Hey guys, my name is Daniel. 3DBotmaker told me that if I'm hosting a tournament on redline I would ask questions here. So here goes.

After reading from redline Tournament information, I was thinking since I'm concern sharing my address without P.O Box. I live in a very small town in Georgia. Is it possible that I can setup a Google Forms for people to sign up and choose the cars that I have? Or is it best to them to ship their cars to me for the Tournament? I'm new in all this and I just started to collect some Hot Wheels now. Never had any when I was a kid, now I'm getting something from Hot Wheels.

Hey Daniel, welcome along.
Either way will work to be fair, it's down to whatever you are comfortable with. There are many tournaments hosted at RLD using both formats, mail in and fantasy. Both are popular so take your pick!

Welcome!

My first tournament and my current series are all using my cars and just assigning drivers. I also don't have a PO box and also with lockdown in NZ it's just a lot easier.

Eventually I'll open up for mail ins, but I'm also purchasing a bunch of extra cars for racing and modding in the meantime.

When you're ready to host a mail-in Tournament...I'll be around to help you out...

Like has been said, it's whatever you feel like you want to handle and deal. Shipping is a bit chaotic right now so the Race Your Own cars format might be easier than mail-in, especially for a first time thing.

You could do a "pick 'em" style race where you set up the matches and people pick who they think will win (like March Madness). Or you could have people pick which car they want to "drive" and that's their car throughout the tournament - and when they're out, they're out. Just track points and stuff and you'll be good.

You can use a Google Form if you want, or you can use this site to collect comments and stuff...again, whatever works best for your situation. But we're here to help and share ideas so don't be shy about that...we'll get you up and running.
