If I put a car back together without messing with it, will that be a modded car, or will I be able to use it? J.B. Welded? That big ol T Bird was painted back in the 60's with a brush. legal?

I'd say try to find a car that is still together/original -you have plenty of time.

the new West Coast version where the Burn Out Esses would be at the end of the track as opposed to the beginning.

Warning! Something to keep in mind racers: you want your car to be somewhat fast even though it's a beater, but if it's too fast, it just might wipe out at the end of the track here at the Washington Burnout!!

Looking through my cars today, I determined that the vast majority of my original Redlines are in too good of shape to be considered beaters. I will be shopping for my beater online.

If you'd like to see a few pics of my cars...

Jim, When I got into collecting....I swore that I'd never get sucked into "redlines" but I'd stick with the cars I knew growing up...blackwall hong kong base cars...Now I'm all over the place searching and researching for redlines.....totally blowing my budget.

Thanks! there are some pretty cool cars out there.

My first Redline...$.3.40....Beat enough for you? does not roll anywhere close to straight...I'm hoping I can tweak the axles without damaging them further....

This series sounds awesome!! We've got lots of beaten--and probably REbeaten--Redlines that we bought while trying to get a good one (which we finally did). Anyway, there's just one thing I don't get: why does it stop at 1971? That doesn't make sense. Take the Side Kicks, for example--they're as original as it gets if you ask me, and they were (according to the chart posted) made later than 1971. Also, if you want a reference, the local die cast clubs allow any original Redline in their Redline Classes. We've got others, but I just wish I could enter my Side Kick.
And one last thing: we've tested them all. If we just go by memory of which are faster (and counter trials) and don't test them again, will that be good enough?

Geez, not again!

blah, blah, blah - why does it stop at 1971? - blah, blah, blah

JDC did have a rule discussion thread before starting this thread.
If you'd like to start a race with your own set of rules please feel free to do so.

re-read past posts... there was a major wheel to axle change in '71... that's when the hubs doubled in size, after that they just painted a red stripe onto a basic wheel/black wall, they had a straight axle with the axle ends showing through the wheel... example ; "superfine turbine" had '71 to '73 re-moveable wheels up front, '73 to '75 through axle, painted on red line rears stock....
.
... side-kick is one of the heaviest hot wheels out there, well over 60 grams...

I noticed the wheels difference, but they're still Redlines. If JDC doesn't want them, I won't send them (you can stop looking over your glasses and tapping your rulebook now, Mr. Moderator Carl) I just don't understand why people don't think they're original. They're metal-base, they're from the early '70s, and they've got red lines (which I'm starting to get the feeling must have magically appeared on the older Redlines ).
Now again, for the ones we have that do qualify--is all right that we've previously tested them?
