Before and After Series.

Can't make up my mind. Drilled a few cars today and narrowed it down to one of these two. Guess I will build both and just see which one is faster and send that one in. This was my son's pick.

Guess we will see which turns out faster. Don't think it is going to matter much. You guys are fast. With out me having to go back and reread and try to figure it out, do we want our car in the blister to be really slow and our custom fast or does it matter what the unopened car does? I don't remember what was decided.

The comparison match race makes it interesting.  You need to make the after car faster or pick a slower before car for the greatest differences, but the slow car still has to race against the other before cars!  So do you go with a known fast before car and a small difference in speed/time or race wins! Or a slow before car that may not do well in the races against others...

Did a little building today. Built the SS Wagon up to 58.7 grams. Did not have FTE wheels to fit it so took wheels off and tried buffing the axle. I also built up the GTO to 58.8 grams. It had FTE wheels on it already. Just raced them against each other. Turns out the SS Wagon should be called the Lead Sled because it is SSSLLLOOOWWW. The GTO blew it's doors off. I grabbed a couple of my faster cars and tried the GTO against them. Beat them all but it was close. The are all stock cars with no weight added. I grabbed a Way2Fast we had customized. The Way2Fast lived up to it's name. So long story short, it's back to the drawing boards. 

Question, is it always smart to get the weight as heavy as possible or could this hurt a car?

It varies.  More weight on a steep or longer incline is usually faster going downhill, but may slow up sooner on a long flat run out.  On a short shallow incline it may never get going fast enough to catch a lighter car before the finish line on a shorter track.

The stop box is also a factor as the heavier car will of course hit harder - possible breakage/misalignment mishaps.

On shorter tracks the release point I believe is the most crucial factor - combination of the "post" and front end design.

H&H Racing has been extremely busy building and testing over the past
several weeks preparing for the Before and After race that is coming
up. Now H&H Racing was built around American muscle cars and the love
for them. Unfortunately, H&H Racing has been having a little trouble
with their main mechanic. The work he has been turning out lately has
been subpar. Testing at Rocky Top Raceway has proven that the H&H Race
team seems to be sputtering a little. The gassers that the team sent
in for the races going on right now are not running up to H&H Racing's
standards. A spectator at the last race was quoted as saying, "I have
been coming to the races for a lot of years. I have seen plenty of
slow cars over the years. If these two cars sent in by H&H Racing were
going any slower, they would be going backwards."

The owner of H&H Racing has decided to try something drastic to stir
things up. For the past two days, H&H Racing has been doing some top
secret testing in the garage and at Rocky Top Raceway. H&H Racing is
happy to announce that testing of the new car has been fantastic. This
is by far, the fastest car to ever come out of our garage. We are not
sure if this car is fast enough to win but we are very excited to get
this car to the race track and competing in next months race. There
will be a press conference at 9:00 pm eastern time to announce and
show off the new car. All we will say at this time is that we have
left our roots behind on this car.  H&H Racing's first love will
always be American muscle cars but to be competitive, we are willing
to look at other options.

Tonight's press conference will be short. First, H&H Racing would like to thank everyone for attending tonight's press conference. As mentioned earlier tonight, H&H Racing will be leaving it's roots for the Before and After race series. We are proud to unveil our new car for the series. All the way from Italy.

OKay guys , I am back after a ten day Oregon Coast tenth anniversary with my lovely Wife, Clayfeat.  We had a blast saw.  We saw the Spruce Goose in  McMinnville Or.  The Newport Aquarium.  Whales,  Tillamook Cheese Factory,  Pacific Ocean, The D River, the shortest river in the world, and at the Hood River Aero Auto Museum I saw dozens vintage airplanes and about 100 vintage cars, some brands I never heard of like a "Brush" automobile. I have pics I will post soon and BTW FTE IIs are FTEs.............Stroller.......It's good to be back.  

Sounds like a great vacation! We've been to the Evergreen Air Museum twice, and the Spruce Goose is a neat site to see. You could have seen the worlds messiest house while you were at it, only 30 miles from McMinnville :D (I mean my house Haha)
