Building 8 lane 1/4 mile
Working on a 8 lane blutrack 20 foot 7 1/2 long it has Judge custom starting gate and Judge finish line with serial link and software for scoring. All aluminum deck and support rails. It has folding legs the track comes a part in 3 sections for transport. A large tool box to support the top of the ramp. It will have 8 sponsor bill boards on the back side of track. I am building it for the car hauler kids area for Darlington race. Going to use rice bag for stop box. I am new to die-cast racing and my have questions on how to build the best track . I will post a video and some pictures soon. Got work all the bugs out for my first event on September 3.

That noise was trying to use a pair of coveralls for a stop. I now have a stop box with rice bags works much better. Down to cutting the sensor holes in the track at the finish line and hooking up the computer so I will have the results on a monitor. Then the fun of decorating and signage.
Your glut rack looks grey, did you paint it?

Very cool...thanks for the video tour. Great example of a big "pro" track with all the trimmings.
If you don't mind, could you give an approximate total cost for all the things seen in the video? Just a ballpark...I know a lot of folks would love to have a setup like yours, even if only 4 lanes, but I know there is a lot of cost put into all those parts.
And from the billboard on the front of the video, it looks like your track will be a traveling track, yes? I know you mentioned a hauler in the top post, but just wondering. You have a game truck business (I assume) and this will be part of those offerings?
On the build...what material are you using to support the track at the hill? Is that aluminum too? It looks very flexible and that's how you get that nice curve too. I've been trying to figure out how to make my hill better on my home track but am not sure what material to use that will allow for a nice Pinewood-style curve but be rigid enough to not give when cars are on it or people playing with it.
...and lastly...please post or PM me on how to become a sponsor. I'd love to see an RLD billboard on one of those sponsor plates. :)
Oh...and any chance you could post just some photos of the track, maybe from various angles and some detail shots of the accessories and gear? The video is great but dissecting builds is quite fun around here and I know it could spark some other ideas for future tracks.
Track $200, Judge Start Gate with special led's for outside Timer $700+, aluminum tubing $125, bill board stands $25, Aluminum clad vinyl Cored sheet $100, aluminum sheet $25, 2 bags rice $8, Vinyl stop box $10, material for stop bag $15, signage approx. $150, computer $750, usb to serial cable $25, Tool Box $300, shelf brackets $15, Hardware $40, Pa System $100, Monitor $50, Cars $100 I may have left off a few things like Labor 30 hours

I think the upper sheet aluminum is about .062 so it will bow, The lower deck is vinyl that is clad on both sides with aluminum it is very rigid and after routing the back side the sides bend easy, Its the stuff they make gas station awning fascia from. I will post more pictures as the track is completed. The folding legs were left over from turning banquet tables into miniature golf lanes. The track will be rented for events all over South Carolina.
The track will be at 3 events for the Darlington 500 NASCAR race. Kids Areas for the Sept 3 Car Hauler, Sept 5 sat race, and before the Sept 6 Darlington NASCAR 500 race.

Here is a video link of first 8 cars down the track. Sorry about the quality of the video but it was shot in the driveway with lighting from my pickup trucks. Please comment on improvements I can make on the setup. I built it to take to events so it is portable and will be used inside and outside under a tent. Will post updated video soon.
