Building one of the largest tracklane here in Africa.

Skyline Sunday, 12/7/2025

I'm building a massive racing track, here in Africa.it going to be 7ft tall, 4ft wide, and 11ft long, featuring African roads and scenery. The track will transition from a village to a city setting, offering a diverse and thrilling experience.

Using corrugated plastic and plastic T&G for the track's construction is a great idea, providing durability, flexibility, and easy detailing. To create an immersive experience, I will incorporate various road types like asphalt, dirt, and gravel, and add scenic elements such as buildings, trees, and streetlights. Vibrant colors and textures can reflect African culture, and obstacles like potholes and speed bumps can add challenge.

The village to city transition can be a highlight, starting with a rural setting featuring small buildings, dirt roads, and market stalls, then gradually shifting to a cityscape with taller buildings, asphalt roads, and streetlights. I will also be adding details like street art, murals, and realistic road signs to bring the track to life. Please you can also help with your idea to make this tracklane a success.

I’m excited to share that I’m making great progress on my track setup! I recently received my track lanes, and I’ve started building the stand for them. After carefully adjusting the layout, I've successfully laid the platform and am now ready to raise all the wood for the lane. There’s been a bit of a challenge with the lane, but overall, it’s performing really well for stock cars. I’m eager to see how it will handle modified cars, as I don't have one on hand yet. Once that's sorted, we’ll just need to finish up the scenery and dioramas. I can’t wait to complete the track and kick off racing, so stay tuned for updates!

Things are looking up as we approach race day! I'm currently preparing to paint the quilt batting a beautiful earthy brown with some green textures to enhance its appeal. Once that’s done, I’ll dive into creating the dioramas, but first, I’m going to focus on the racing aspect. I don’t want to reveal all the details just yet, but I’m curious—do you think your car has what it takes to conquer this track? I've deliberately designed this layout to include quite a few DNF opportunities, and the overtakes will be genuine and thrilling. We’re gearing up for our first tournament featuring hypercars, and I can't wait to see everyone on the skyline!

The track layout is now 100% set and locked in after testing for flow, overtaking spots, and realism. We’re moving into the terrain phase — sculpting mountains and hills with foam, plaster, and textured paint to make the circuit feel alive. Next, we’ll finish the surface with sanding, tire marks, and precise lane markings plus red-white kerbs. Finally, we add scenery: static grass in multiple shades, crowd areas with figures in the grandstand and on slopes, plus marshals and trackside props.

the first race will start soon! The track layout is set and we’re ready to get cars on circuit.

But the build doesn’t stop there. As the race season runs, we’ll keep upgrading the layout and scenery live. Expect new barriers, updated lane markings, more terrain detailing on the mountains, and extra crowd areas to be added between races.

We’re 60% done. The last 40% is all about atmosphere. Race day visuals are coming soon! ????
