Depending on how old the Kia is, check to see how often the timing belt is supposed to be changed, and if it was done or if it's due. A neighbor had a fairly new Sportage but she couldn't afford the expensive belt change and let it go. She's now driving a Volvo cause the belt broke and ruined the motor. Older Kia and Hyundai were recommended to have the belt replaced every 60,000 miles. My Santa Fe has almost 190,000 on it, just had the belt changed for the third time. Can be anywhere from $500.00 to $900.00 (that was Kia cost according to my neighbor). My wife has an '06 CRV with over 112,000, no major problems.

Well, if you didn't already know, I've been employed by Volkswagen/Audi for ~20yrs. So, yes, I am bias.

But I won't try to sway you away from Toyota, Honda, or Kia. To be honest, I actually entertained the thought of buying a Honda on my last vehicle purchase. Their reputation for quality & economy speaks for itself. The reason that I blast to drive. If you're so inclined to investigate the new VW line-up, feel free to PM me...I can provide you with whatever type of info you need.

Okay we went and bought a 2000 Honda Accord LX. It is a beauty and guess what. Clay Feat says this is the car she will be driving and I get the old 95 Pontiac grand am.....go figure.

Well now on the same day we went and a mazda b4000 pickup.....this is what I will be driving.... .....actually it's pretty nice.
