Man oh man, I thought I hit the golden ticket when I nabbed the legendary Chevy Stocker for my American class. Imagine my surprise when it lost to the Corvette C6 It brought back horrible memories of my Superbird FTE, LOL.

Just goes to show that certain cars perform better on different tracks. Unfortunately for me, I guess the Stocker performs better on a different track

I can't wait until the Ford F-150 gets added. I hope it does better and I hope I am able to nab that one before anybody else

And the Corvette had PR-5 wheels! I'm not really fond of these wheels
as I don't know any really fast models that have these wheels.

As for the Huffman Stocker, just like anything else, you never know how
it's going to run out of the package. Did the person contribute the model
loose or in the package? If it was loose, maybe it wasn't one of their
faster models in the first place.

When I send a box of racers, they will be still sealed on the blister so that
nobody will know how competitive they will be ahead of time.

The Stocker was in the package. It didn't have any noticable problems...wheels spun free and fine, not the tightest axles but I've seen worse. I think it was just a bad combination of track and car. Goes to show not all safe bets are safe bets!

I posted some of my observations over in the blog

Thanks for the info!

I know a guy, Larry, who had a whole Jammers case full of Huffman Stockers! The car may be
above average as far as downhill racers are concerned but that doesn't mean that every single
one of them will be winners.

I just noticed your Blog article. Very good write-up!

I can't believe the FTE Superbird is 0 - 4. Brian did you step on it.

The Superbird may have FTE's but it has a couple things against it, IMHO.

It is skinny and it can bounce around in the lane. It also appears to be riding
rather high. If it does bounce around in the lane, the height of the model
gives it centrifugal force to hit the rails and even linger on the rail longer
than an average model.

Mark is pretty accurate with his analysis of the Superbird. It is a bouncer, which doesn't help it along. I don't think the skinniness is as much of an issue as the high riding chassis.

The Super Bee is a narrow car too but it sits low enough that it can take a straight shot without taking any bumps. It might slam side-to-side but it sticks to the track. One out of two is bad enough...I think the Superbird swings and misses on both accounts.

Well, maybe you're right about my Superbird being a golden goose because it smokes all comers. It flew straight as an arrow, which I attest to it's fairly long length. I'm guessing it's the FTE's that helped it fly by it's opponents on the straight away. I tell you, I'm so close to mailing in my wife's bird, , but she'd kill me. That's her pride and joy that she won with.

Dude, if that Superbird runs golden don't send it anywhere! I haven't seen any of my Superbirds do much flying, FTE or not. That's like your hustler car...everyone will think it's a stinker and then you'll shuck em!

On the topic of fast cars. We just had a race Saturday and set up a fairly long track. Keep in mind, we build a new track each time we race and sometimes it doesn't have the best support because it was just set up that day. Well, I'm pretty sure this track was a good 25-30 ft long; however, it was setup over grass. My cousin brought several sheets of hard plastic to lay underneath the track to try and support it, but it was very apparent by the cars bouncing that it didn't work that well.

We still had fun racing and my mom ended up winning. I let her use a new Speed Racer car that I just opened (untested). It was the Racer X Race car seen here at hotwheels.wikia.com
Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

It flew by everything and the funny thing is it felt like it had the loosest wheels I've ever seen. Again though, I don't know if it was so light that all the bumps on the track didn't effect it as much, but it sailed by every car. It only went to the 3rd race once, lost the coin flip for lane choice and ended up winning in the lane it just lost in before anyway, LOL. Destiny I guess.

That race was mixed emotions for me. I was happy that my C6 won, I was unaware until now that it was such an important race. I was disappointed though, because I had the All Pro Class Stock Car in my Garage, untested to see how it'd do. But I'm in a similar predicament for the upcoming race, because I have a '69 Camaro and the Delorean in my all Pro garage, but they are racing each other in the American Class, so one will go up, but the other will go down.. Sigh.

That said, I think that the ratings for Cars should be split up, unless there's something I'm missing, and maybe have ratings specific to their owner in that division.

Also, I noticed that the cars I want to see race aren't doing so, and the other cars are being picked randomly, I was wondering how this worked. And if you got rid of all but one car in each division, could you theoretically ensure each of them racing in every tournament?

The picks from the garages are random...and possibly too random.

You have 3 cars in your All-Pro garage. One car is picked at random for each race...however, it is just that, random, without looking at how often any of the cars have raced. It's clearly something I failed to consider when planning it out. Of course, I also was anticipating much more car swapping too.

There's a part of me that likes seeing a smaller set of cars race against each other over and over...I think it creates fandom, but at the same time, I do get tired of seeing a lot of the same cars running each week. I guess when I was building I was thinking that people would swap out cars that didn't win more often, but most players just seem to let their cars ride week after week.

Of course, I don't think many of the people that signed up at the beginning have come back. That is also a flaw in my planning. Out of 42 registered players, less than 10 actively participate weekly. That told me that people are interested in the game/concept, but something about the gameplay scared them off.

If you haven't yet, check out the latest v2.0 thread to see where we'll be heading later this summer. No more garage worries.

I agree with the thing about the classes. But, it does seem like the Ferraris race each other a lot... Could you sell the other two cars so one of them gets a lot of races quickly.

Also, the fact that races are only once a week is kinda slow, but I know with time restraints that nothing can be done about that.

Only 10 active members?! That is un-good. I invited some of my friends, and one signed up, and I think he forgot about it. But another friend of mine was about to join when there was a shortage of cars. And he wants to send you a bunch of cars, although I don;t think he fully understands how it works... I am getting him to drop you a line though...

In 2.0, you create specialized dvisions, like Porsche, Muscle Cars, Ferarris, etc.
