Cops-n-Robbers 3...Official thread - Starts This Weekend!
thanks c10... fuzz didn't need the 429 anyway... that 289 will get most of the naughty.
ditto on wheels on, base work...
note that the boys in blue converted the HW '34 3 window coupe to a 5 window... undercover ?
- No problem, Smitty! The body is just sitting in the pic...it will be lower when glued :) — 72_Chevy_C10
Well, it looks like my robber entry will have to hang out until it fits the specs for another future race.
I'm not able to finish my Cops entry.
It was to be NCIS Gibbs yellow challenger. ( second choice to Abby's hot rod) Per my wife's idea/request.
I just can't get it finished.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL who enter!!
I've finally finished both cars for the race, weighing 89 grams in total. Both cars and all the resources used to custom paint them were from Wal-Mart (lol), and the Corvette was deemed the fastest track car of 2015.
- Rocking 5spokes, solid looking builds... — Traction-Event
- Cool — 72_Chevy_C10
- digging the red under black there! — CrzyTrkrDude
It's getting close...I hope you are all in the workshop, finishing up your cars!
There are only 4 teams here so far...C10, Traction Event, Smitty and Stroller. And Track Surgeon was a team ready to go.
Who else is sending in teams?
- Weber cabin and rally case cars going to the PO right now. Is your NJ address the same? — cliffordshaw
- Yup, NJ address still the correct one — 72_Chevy_C10
I'll be there. Cars have been painted for a month and roughly mocked up. Tis the season. Got the axle tubes in today. Hopefully, wheels and weight tonight. My cars will be screwed together as in the past. So, the winner can dismantle and possibly reuse as parts or in another race. I was going to glue them shut, but I'm fairly sure I'll be getting at least one of them back:). Police truck and getaway taxi!!!
- Think I may have flagged my own post. Must be all this JB Weld stuck to my thumbs. — iswingping
- Don't glue your hands to your phone...ot's Hardee to build racers that way! — 72_Chevy_C10
The Corvette was the fastest of 2015's mainlines, but it's not as fast as this customized Rivited. It looks a lot like a Ford Mustang:
Just finished the cop car and started the robber. Should have the cars in the mail Monday, need to strip some paint. What is best way do to it. Wish I had a blaster.
- I use stuff called 'zip strip'...really nasty stuff. I know guys use aircraft stripper that works well also — 72_Chevy_C10
- I use a can of Citristrip. It works in about 10 minutes at room temperature and you can easily find it at Home Depot. — Brakefluid_Tracksurgeon
I'll have a pair ready to go. I'm Just sorting out weight today. I'll get them jb welded and sent off by Monday.
Rally Case and Weber Cabin are in the house!
Hey I didn't catch that this was a WTA event and I'm wondering if we could send in some prize cars to swap for our builds - I promise they will be good. I like the fun of continuing to tweak mods for multiple events. My cop this time began as a middle weight entry 3 years ago. I did new wheels and had to drill out a bunch of that weight, maybe this time it will do better.
Okay Guys, we are one week away from the start of this series! If you are planning on running, please get your cars wrapped up this weekend and in the mail early next week!
It's going to be interesting to see how these cars race, with the different weights...light and heavy cars on different tracks. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out!

Team Sloppy Jalopies is back in the game! The Cops up in Maine are a lot cooler than your average...they have themselves a channeled, fenderless, '34 5-window as their cruiser...

Just pulling the lead only got me down to about 7 grams away, so I had to do a Northeast channel job for ya, Smitty....the pair are weighing in at 90 grams now. I'll glue your Copper back together tomorrow (*note* doing a channel job is easier without the axles glued in) :)
