Drilling out rivets: One More Time.

Stroller Monday, 1/6/2014

Well I have finally learned the EASY way to drill out rivets even though I was told how to do it several times. Today I did it correctly and it was oh so simple and I knew why it was oh so simple. Your brain is not the first thing to go it's actually your mind. Drill a small pilot hole first to provide a guide for the larger bit that also makes the larger bit cut much quicker. 1/8 inch and then 9/64 inch for HW with plastic bases. Just starting on my FFF cars....wouldn't want to be late for my own tourney.......Okay later Dudes.

I've heard that gun oil can be used in races where it is allowed. Is gun oil as good (or better) than graphite? And after a little while, will dust and grime build up in the axles and slow the car down? I'm thinking about getting some and experimenting with it.

with time most oils break down plastics and hold dust...
most guns don't have plastic parts that need to be oiled, the gun oil makers need not worry about how it affects plastic...
...maybe try sewing machine oil, the machines have many plastic parts...
also... the Johnnies had to stop a guy from using Palmolive Dish washing liquid...
I don't see why he used it, soaps have fine grit in them to help them work... it worked well enough for them to ban it...

It is a tire dressing (not the aerosol can, but the spray bottle)
