Race format and scoring

There will be 3 races on this same track.  Each race will be 5 laps long with a grid of 12 cars run in GRID-6 format.  That is each group of 6 cars are run (P1 - P6, then P7 - P12).  Points are awarded on the final lap, Lap 5.  50 points for 1st, 36 points for 2nd, 30 points for 3rd, 24 points for 4th, 20 points for 5th, 16 points for 6th, 12 points for 7th, 8 points for 8th, 4 points for 9th, 2 point for 10th and 1 point for each car that finishes the race after 10th place.

Update (Aug 25, 2026)

There is a bonus 5 points for best PRO qualifying time and best AM qualifying time.  There is also a bonus 5 points for Pole Position after qualifying (the best overall time).  So in this case, just for the first of the 3 race events.  5 points will be awarded for fastest lap for each race.

Update (Aug 12, 2026)

GRID-6 rules clarification as there has been many varients of this. All laps will be GRID-6 (two groups of 6 cars). Cars are eliminated if they completly leave the track or land on their roof.  Cars that DNF but remain on their wheels and on the track (touching) remain in the race but are moved to the back of the second group of 6 cars (all cars move up to fill the opens in the groups ahead of them).  Other than passing on the track, this is how cars can move up in possition during the race.

Updated (Aug 25, 2026)

Cars that DNF but are still in the race are assumed to have completed the lap.  This includes the last lap.  First race starting positions is based on your best qualifying time.  Race finish plus order of DNFs (most recent to first) determine the starting positions for the next race (not accululated points).

Penalties/DNF

Cars are given a grace of 1g over the stated weight limit to account for variance in scales.

If a car fails to meet any of the restrictions listed above, the car will not qualify for victory. Offending cars will still race. Finish position and any prize will go to the runner-up in the case of the penalty car winning.

Cars that fail to run or fit on the track, or that happen to break during racing, will forfeit their matches. Cars that arrive broken will attempt to be minimally repaired before the racing begins. Cars that break during racing will not be repaired or replaced.

Prizes

Updated (Aug 11, 2026)

Sounds awesome.  That is a tricky casting.  #21 is my lucky number.

#14 sounds good.  Sounds like a real challenge.  Looking forward to it.

I'll take one of the mail in AM spots, if it's still available. I'd like #22.

I'd love to join you in this tournament with a mail-in please.

  • Bring it! I have 4 choose your ride entries available, but you know what, I'd rather a real entry. So bring it and I will reduce the Choose your ride to 3. You will be entering the AM Class ... Stock weight. — MarcusFiregone
  • Car received ... looks awesome, I really like what you did with the windows. — MarcusFiregone
