Featherweight Challenge Series II (California)
Yes, the points between us are slim -a fun series so far huh? After the first races in California, I got the idea that this might develop into an interesting series, with some fierce competition between teams. Unlike the last Gasser series where the Sloppy Jalopie Team took the lead and never looked back.
I think this series more than any other has kept me guessing. Expect the unexpected at this point.
the sloppies do ok in the all modded races, but as soon as the stockers get the chance to enact a little revenge...

The non FTE class has been won by three different cars so far
On three different tracks. Makes me wonder about testing and the cars that didn't make the cut on my track...would they have been winners on other tracks?
And the races have been run!
Last night out at Austin Diecast Drags World Headquarters, powered by Lone Star beer and the new album by Baroness, in the 100 billion degree heat, in between welding passes, there took place some races of fast little cars on the 50' track of doom.
Since I've ramped up my furniture business venture, I've been completely out of the loop on the diecast scene until a box of cars showed up at my office last week...doh! I put together random brackets, I hope not too many of the match ups were the same, as I didn't even look to see who was in the lead before I started racing...just racing!
After a few hiccups with my track set up, racing go underway about 10:30pm central daylight time. Still in the mid 90's inside the shop...bleh!
Raced the Non-FTE cars first. First race out of the box goes to 3 runs! these cars were an almost dead even match. Second run and the front end of car #44 broke off in the finish box. After a little super-glue gel it was back in business. Then right back to 3 runs for the next race...thought I was going to be walking alot last night. Couple of nice close races then a run off for the final with car #88 with the win, but just barely. Sqeaking by with 1/2" over a 50' track is pretty impressive.
Then the FTE cars, plagued with issues at the beginning. #20 car was in peices out of the box. After some careful reassembly it was back in business, then in the first match up bug vs. bug #49 was dragging it's front screw on my track. After a little selective grinding it was back on track. Then second match up and the #21 Cobra's front axle had come out. I chose not too completely tear apart the car to repair it, but I was worried I might damage it further...sorry. Then moved onto another run off race and close races. The last few brackets were all very close races, less than 1 car length...a battle royale between the yellow and orange cars with orange on top in the last races. Amazingly fast little buggers!
