Fords Fords Fords: Old School / New School
just because there is a little snow on the roof, doesn't mean there is no lead in the foot !
I was out Christmas shopping to day. Bought cars for everyone entered in FFF and prize cars for the Am winners of the Pro/Am race at the Silver Café. Gonna make posters and place them at the local diecast stores and Kmart and Walmart and Target. I hope. Also gonna try getting some free advertising on the local radio stations and TV stations. All the seniors are looking forward to this. I hope I don't screw it up.............
Most people will be just happy to be there and participate! But I know how you feel as host - it can be nerve wracking!!!
fair enough, I have 9 pre '70, under 57 gram, untested ford hot rods !
will seem weird to test something before entering a series...
should I set up a FFF entry eliminations, like 442 did for the PP series ?
Smitty,
Noticed you have already sent in your cars, but did you do an eliminations round?
I did not, as I didn't get any voting on favorites = no interest....and i'm not a tester...
Thats a tough question, but others have modified old cars and still called them old so I say its ok....Hey on second thought that wasn't such a tough question.
I think there is a problem racing that car... maybe check the rear tire / wheelie bar clearances...
Just trim a little off the headers so as they don't rub the track sides.
I know I'm going to lose this race. I incrementally added weight to the 2010 Mustang GT I was building, and it got about .1 second faster. I tried filing the imperfections off the axle ends like I was told to, but I guess I didn't do it right because the car didn't get any faster or slower. Then I tried using some graphite, and the car slowed down about .04 seconds. Then I tried blowing the graphite off of the axles with an air hose, but the axle slipped out of my fingers and went flying to who knows where. So now I'm missing an axle, the car isn't fast enough, and I don't know what to do with the stupid thing. Is there really anything else I could try to do with it to make it faster?
Did you try fixing the axles in place? I have only done a few, but that has had the most improvement in performance and speed.

I did that for one of my RRR entries, it isn't that much faster. My entries for FFF and RRR both suck....
