Count the Milton Fox Racing team in!

If needed or appropriate (fairly new member), I would like to host a round.

Noted and changed....thanx.

Lets do this thing!
Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

Agreed...I'm in...been tinkering today on a 32 Ford....plenty of work to do, but here is a possible Old School entry

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

TE in the fast lane...
do I spy a "mid mill" mill and a 1st edition "way 2 fast" base ?... don't recognize the air cleaner though...GO TE GO !

Air cleaner chopped from the top of "Cool one"

Thanks Smitty.

I like your lift puck! Is that play-doh?

I was able to find an Old School/New School runner - off to the mod bench!

can't wait to see your choice of fords and maybe a few "bench" pictures...

Count rally case racing and weber cabin racing in

POST '70 = GRABBIN' GASS ... '71 MAVRICK GRABBER GASSER ... [WHAT ELSE] ; THE PARTS, NOTE THE NEW AXLE SLOT ON THE UNDER SIDE OF THE BASE, [PRESTO-GASSER] J.B.QUICK RIVET HOLES TO COME...Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox
SORTA MOCKED UP ; Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

yup, modeling clay..also good for packing weight where you need it.

Smitty, like where you're headed with the Maverick!

while I was out the "diecast nasties" musta got to the maverick, they chewed a big hole in the hood...they even nawed around both rear wheel wells...i'll file and fill the hole with BONE SHAKER'S induction, and the wheel wells with FTEs...
under 57 grams... post '70 NEW SCHOOL entry ; Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox
pre-'70 OLD SCHOOL entry... hmmm, 1903 to 1970 ford ? Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox
1928 / '29 Ford MODEL A sedan delivery altered...if stroller gives it the ok...

Trying to keep up with Smitty is tough...

Needs to gain a few grams...but here she is...hope she has some GO to go with the show...
Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

will this double elimination series be run as 1 class as all cars will be in the same weight class ?
.
is an A-OK sedan delivery ['28/'29 MODEL A ford] body on a single engine "way 2 win, 'er...fast " base ok as an old schooler ?
.
just opened up an fte "way 2 fast"... yuk ! ...1 good wheel, can't use either axle for racing...at least I can use the engines and base later...

hey, TE, can you identify the parts on this one ?
body -
base -
front bumper -
engine -
nose -
fuel cell -3/8" piece of 5/16" plastic coat hanger
'05 /'06 FTEs from -
; Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

front of the class TE, only misses were "bad ratitude's" nose..."stocker's" FTEs...

Count me in on this one, plenty of time to do some builds. Cool idea !!

I see that the Cobra's count, what about the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe ??? I also see no trucks, does that include sedan deliverys and panels? Hate to have all the questions, just want to know my build options, what about station wagons, vans, dragsters and other race cars, (nascar type, etc.)

I'm thinking your aiming for street type cars only?

Sorry for all the questions.

I'll also talk to Tanner, (Red Star), and see if he would like to enter. He has a handle on the Fantasy League, if he is going to run here a lot he needs to get his own handle going.

as far as fords are concerned,
a sedan delivery is built with a sedan chassis and nose, with 1 rear door, wooden inner structure bolted to a metal frame.. a panel truck is built with a truck chassis and nose, with 2 rear doors, all steel construction...
a station wagon is built on a sedan chassis, wooden body [woody]...
the sedan delivery, panel and station wagon have almost the same nose in the Model T era, 1928 to early 1931 Model As and 1940 only...delivery and wagon use the same front doors... panels no...

Station wagons and vans are in.
drag rails are out.
funny cars are in.
nascar is out we race those elsewhere.

1928 / '29 Ford MODEL A sedan delivery altered...if stroller gives it the ok...

Well it is definitely a Ford...I would say it's in for being recognizable.....it's almost a rail dragster but not quite....imho

i'm not a teenager trying to push the boundries... I can build another car... yes or no... is no problem here...

1928 / '29 Ford MODEL A sedan delivery altered...if stroller gives it the ok...

Well it is definitely a Ford!

Is it scheduled for paint? Maybe you could leave it outside for awhile and let it patina a bit and make it a rat rod!

i'm not a teenager trying to push the boundries... I can build another car... yes or no... is no problem here...

Well it is pushing the envelope a bit. Very cool car, but maybe not quite what I had in mind......

fair enough, I have 9 pre '70, under 57 gram, untested ford hot rods !
will seem weird to test something before entering a series...
should I set up a FFF entry eliminations, like 442 did for the PP series ?

8 hot rods, winner goes west ; Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox
Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox
darn woodie rolled off the track [from on top of the fridge] wasted the left front wheel !
grabbed a '34 sedan delivery to pinch hit for woodie !

Go Smitty Go!!!!!

wasted front wheel !

Maybe time to test that 3 wheels is better than 4 theory!

Mocked-up pinch-hitter ; Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox
'34 SEDAN DELIVERY body with the tail tab removed, kmart '34 COUPE base, rear axle moved back 3/32" and STOCKER's FTEs ... NOTE HOW THE LAKE PIPE SUPPORT IS PERFECT FOR ABOUT ANY EARLY BODY STYLE TO SIT ON...

K&O Racing will sign up

Any brand of diecast Ford product is allowed, right?

Thanks for the info Stroller !!! Gonna go through my Fords and see what I'm gonna run in this race, already have thoughts on a few.

Good looking cars Smitty, done by a true craftsman

Running Fords is gonna be cool to see the variety that you guys come up with. Next tournament we could do Yugos.

Any brand of diecast Ford product is allowed, right?

Not a Ratrod, but I still like it!

please... co-ordinate a RAT ROD series, less weight as there is no place to hide it...i'll host ... [even the finals if needed]Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

Count me in please! I'd be happy to host a race as well.

^^ Nice Rat Rod!

I know that, but what I'm saying is, if I wanted to build an M2 Machines Ford product for this race, would it be allowed?

I know that, but what I'm saying is, if I wanted to build an M2 Machines Ford product for this race, would it be allowed?

It has to fit on the track and follow all the other criteria noted above. The brand of the diecast car doesn't matter. Being a Ford does.

OK, thanks. I think I'm going to do some experimenting with one of those silly old Foose P32 Super Chases Just kidding

Love the idea! Do would need to start another post to continue the discussion? Oh, and here is a pic of my entries in progress. A 70 Torino & an old beater RL 32 Ford Cocky. Had to reverse the motor on the Vicky to use the post to fasten the body & chassis together.
Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

Hm...I might have to modify for an old car for this one...I'm not sure, I'll have to talk it over with Sinisterdog. We'll probably be able to enter, but I'll have to make sure--make sure we have time and cars.

Huh. Sure got quiet.

Huh. Sure got quiet.

...
jumped over to RAT ROD RUMBLE to get off this thread.

Well I got my cars done and numbered....thought about keeping the 32 for the Rat Rod Rumble...but I'll build something else.

Good clean looking rides you got there!

Nice work T.E...

Sign me up Stroller, I'm gonna build me some Fords!

Pinto

the pinto is a multi carbs sedan delivery... cool cars

Would a stock car with graphite in the axles be allowed to race as long as it was heavier than the minimum weight requirement?

drilled rivets race !

Would a stock car with graphite in the axles be allowed to race as long as it was heavier than the minimum weight requirement?

I just looked at the original post and it looks like stockers are OK for the "Fords Fords Fords" event.

SORRY KO... THANKS CARL FOR THE PROOF READING...

No biggie Smitty. If I can actually race my secret weapon with graphite in the axles It could destroy even the fastest modified cars

If I can actually race my secret weapon with graphite in the axles It could destroy even the fastest modified cars

We've all heard that kinda' talk before!

Yeah, from jerks like FOTF.
Besides--my stock NASCAR would probably beat them all--including yours--anyway.

Sounds like a double challenge to me...anybody need to borrow a drill?

Just bought one of my possible entries for the race today. Made by M2 Machines, 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429. I think I can make it fast Maybe not though I'm not sure how it will turn out to be honest

sent a couple fords to Spokane this noon...

Would a Matchbox Ford Explorer be allowed if I decided to race with it instead?

Might have some issues going through the gates...

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

Tested one on my Dragtracks set, not super fast but I think I could get it going. Gate let it go real easy.

Am I allowed to just build both of my entries for the new school class?

Am I allowed to just build both of my entries for the new school class?

No.

Smitty's cars arrived today. 2 of the most beeyouteefulll cars I've ever seen. Nice work Smitty.........

Anyone want to host this also.....Let me know....Share the glory!!!!

No other hosts?.....if nobody else will step up. I will....sign us up...track layout tbd.

Okay sounds good.

Okay since this tournament and my event at the Silver Café seem to be for about the same time, I'm going to run the FFF races at the Silver Café interlinked with the Pro Am race. This way you do not have to send in even more cars and I don't have to process and return that many cars.............Let me know what you think.

New entry rule on page one. It's the red racing stripe rule....please read it.

Is their an "official" stripe pattern to use? Or is just any that is red?

Is their an "official" stripe pattern to use? Or is just any that is red?

If it is red and visible it's okay. I just don't want to mix you guys cars up with the Ams.....The only exception is Sloppy Jalopy cause he has already sent in his cars.....I know his cars.

Oh by the way everyone that participates in this event will get a prize......1st, 2nd and third place will get better prizes.................

COOL! Thanks Ed! BTW My PPP truck showed up today.

FAST FRED'S CAR WERE IN THE MAILBOX... THANKS ROLLER... SORRY WRONG THREAD ! PPP...

newly striped Fords will mail out tomorrow, also in the package the Silver Cafe mod cars.

Thanks TE very appreciated.....

I was out Christmas shopping to day. Bought cars for everyone entered in FFF and prize cars for the Am winners of the Pro/Am race at the Silver Café. Gonna make posters and place them at the local diecast stores and Kmart and Walmart and Target. I hope. Also gonna try getting some free advertising on the local radio stations and TV stations. All the seniors are looking forward to this. I hope I don't screw it up.............

just because there is a little snow on the roof, doesn't mean there is no lead in the foot !

Most people will be just happy to be there and participate! But I know how you feel as host - it can be nerve wracking!!!

should I set up a FFF entry eliminations, like 442 did for the PP series ?

Smitty,

Noticed you have already sent in your cars, but did you do an eliminations round?

I did not, as I didn't get any voting on favorites = no interest....and i'm not a tester...

Would a Super Comp Roadster be allowed in the Old School class? I hear it's loosely based off of a '27 Ford Roadster.Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

Thats a tough question, but others have modified old cars and still called them old so I say its ok....Hey on second thought that wasn't such a tough question.

I think there is a problem racing that car... maybe check the rear tire / wheelie bar clearances...

Just trim a little off the headers so as they don't rub the track sides.

I know I'm going to lose this race. I incrementally added weight to the 2010 Mustang GT I was building, and it got about .1 second faster. I tried filing the imperfections off the axle ends like I was told to, but I guess I didn't do it right because the car didn't get any faster or slower. Then I tried using some graphite, and the car slowed down about .04 seconds. Then I tried blowing the graphite off of the axles with an air hose, but the axle slipped out of my fingers and went flying to who knows where. So now I'm missing an axle, the car isn't fast enough, and I don't know what to do with the stupid thing. Is there really anything else I could try to do with it to make it faster?

Did you try fixing the axles in place? I have only done a few, but that has had the most improvement in performance and speed.

Did you try fixing the axles in place? I have only done a few, but that has had the most improvement in performance and speed.

I did that for one of my RRR entries, it isn't that much faster. My entries for FFF and RRR both suck....

Know what you mean. My RRR's can barely stay in the race box group I have with the 5 spokes. The PPP truck beat everyone here, but didnt do well at either host site. I have my FFF set up to be winners here and even out run the PPP truck now that it is back, but I dont expect to win FFF overall - just hope to make a good showing!

I did that for one of my RRR entries, it isn't that much faster. My entries for FFF and RRR both suck....

I'm probably speaking for everyone here in saying that it is hard to make any given car go faster.

As for fixing the axles, I only do that if there is no way out of it. I very rarely 'fix' the axle, preferring to let it spin in hopes of reducing friction.

How many different cars are you building for a series?
JDC offered some good advice here: http://www.redlinederby.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1523
Build a bunch, test, test again, then send.

Schmitty is the only one I know of that can build a fast car without even testing the damn thing!

THANKS CARL...
TESTING ; DO EVERY LITTLE PROCESS THE BEST YOU CAN... AND HOPE IT ROLLS !
ONE CAN "FREE FLOAT" THE AXLES, BUT TO DO SO YOU NEED TO USE THE MATCHING INTERIOR AND BASE SO THE HIGHT AND WHEELBASE ARE RIGHT...KINDA LEAVES ME OUT...

Problem is that I'm racing on a tight budget so I can't buy all the Tungsten weights to build a bunch of cars.

I don't think too many of us use tungsten.

HOW DO YOU CUT TUNGSTON TO THE SIZE YOU NEED ?

HOW DO YOU CUT TUNGSTON TO THE SIZE YOU NEED ?

You have to use a ruby tipped tungsten saw.....I think they are illegal in most states.

HOW DO YOU CUT TUNGSTON TO THE SIZE YOU NEED ?

I don't, I just use a weight that's the right size to cram into the car somewhere, and sometimes I will use Tungsten putty to fill the cracks. What do you guys use to add weight to your cars?

What do you guys use to add weight to your cars?

The sporting goods department has plenty of fishing weights in a lot of different sizes, both lead and metal. I prefer lead. it can be hammered into different shapes. I think of JDC's cars when I'm swinging the hammer!

i use LEAD,
ask any guy who metal detects... they will sell lead fishing weights to you cheap...
I like the salt water 1 or 2 oz, triangle style...
oval "steel" weights are not malable like the "lead" ones...
an old knife, needlenose plyers, a hammer and a chunk of concrete... with the knife and hammer cut to the [size] weight you need... hold with needlenose plyers, then hammer the chunk into a shape that fits the body...

The reason I use Tungsten instead is because Tungsten is heavier than lead, it takes less volume of Tungsten than lead to make a car heavier.

The reason we use lead is 'cause it's cheaper so we can build more cars to test.
Viscous circle, ain't it!

I use lead weight primarily, but have used BBs or steal shoot as well. Model train shops sell lead in strips. You can also go by a tire store and ask for some old wheel weights (usually they will give you a handful for free).

I am sure - if I tried - I could find some tungsten, but I have never ran across it around here otherwise!

You do need a balance though! As a heavier car can take longer to get up to speed and cant overcome the distance - as a lighter car is losing its momentum.

some newer wheel weights are not lead, grabbed a few on the ground at tire warehouse... steel.

Stroller, have my cars and silver cafe donations showed up yet?

Why yes they have. All the cars both race cars and donated cars are amazing. I will try to put up pictures tomorrow....Amazed by your talent....

Michigan rocks...

Thanks guys, just glad everything made it there safe....I forgot tracking on that package....

A couple of hobby stores in my area sell lead weights in strips and they're segmented so you can break pieces off & each one is stamped with the amount of grams it weighs. I cut them into smaller pieces so I can tuck them into just about anywhere on the vehicle. And they cut easily with a little jeweler's or plumber's hacksaw. A little poster putty holds them in place and then a dab of epoxy or jb weld keeps em from breakn loose. If the car is a did then I can remove them and reuse them.

That's another reason I don't like using lead, because I just feel uneasy working with it.

New details on Page One.....new starting date....

BTW everyone who enters this Race is getting a prize....Keep smiling. Also we have room for more entries jump on board...

I've got two more Fords to test. Had way more Mustangs than I had thought. Most are light weight and not very good runners though! Been hardest to find a late model version - currently working with the 08 Focus and some donated FTE 1s.

It actually went from the 12th to the 19th......

It actually went from the 12th to the 19th......

OK. You've got both starting dates on the first post so I guessed wrong. Sorry

No problem.....

New rule change on page one. Take a look.....

Ok, I asked on the other thread as well. My cars do have the red stripe. Will these cars be used at the Silver Cafe race as well?

bottom line do I need to build another set of cars?

Technical question: What is the general ruling on the weight limits. As posted for this race the maximum is 57 grams. On my scale it only reads "57", I am presuming it is somewhere between 57.0 and 57.5 grams, but it only shows "57" on the screen - is that legal? Or does it have to be actually below 57 and above 30 in order to qualify?

Over on HWC the guy that runs the races there allows people to go a little bit over, because all scales are different. But I guess it's up to Stroller to decide.

Well my scale is the same way so if it says 57 here it's ok. 57.5 is no big deal. I do weigh them.

57.5 G's is the new 57.0 G's

Great!

Now can any of you die cast physics majors solve this riddle for me. I tuned my Focus up to the max weight (5 grams at a time, for a total of 30 extra grams) and now with or without any of the extra weight - it runs the same? Running FTE 1s. Did they break in and the weight doesnt matter anymore? Has the graphite gone away and need redoing? A little perplexed.

no rocket scientists at the Sloppies garage...and we don't race many stockers ...
with the few stockers and most of my altered cars, good axles and large wheels / long wheelbase are Kings...
[example ; see "RIP & ROLL race winner]... sorry Gspeedr...only stocker race I have ever won here...

Beats me. I've got no idea why it wouldn't be faster. Is there somehow more friction?

I would think as you add more weight more pressure is applied to the axles when you exceed a certain weight then you will slow down................

and depending on track/angle/drop height....etc...

FORDS, FORDS, FORDS... NEEDS HOSTS, HOSTS, HOSTS... IT IS AFTER THE HOLIDAYS

Thanks Smitty....

Merry Christmas..........Just thought I would let you know I took 116 cars to the Vanessa Behan Crisis Center today and donated them in the Redline Derby Leagues name. A big thank you to all who donated. I seperated out the custom/modified so they could maybe auction these off to make even more money for the kids, Working at the Silver Cafe today for their Christmas Dinner...we expect a crowd.......any way Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all my friends here at the League...........

Calling out members new and old...

Yes we do need at least one more host for Fords Fords Fords.....New guys, it's not that tough, if the old codger can do it so can you.....

BTW there is new info on page number one, have a look.....

I might talk to my folks later and find out if maybe I could be a host Stroller, no promises though.

do it !

Yes please try.............Stroller............I know you will do a good job.

I thought I had signed on for this but after I guess I didn't. So count me in please.

And, I will host as well.

AT A BOY... UH, ER.... DAD !

I thought I had signed on for this but after I guess I didn't. So count me in please.

And, I will host as well.

You are in and set up as the last host.

Sorry Stroller . I was going to try to be a host, but I didn't get a good opportunity to sit down with my folks and explain it to them. Plus I don't really know if I'm ready for that kind of responsibility running a race.

Can someone tell me if the Hot Wheels Neet Streeter is a Ford or Chevy?

Can someone tell me if the Hot Wheels Neet Streeter is a Ford or Chevy?

IMO and to avoid confusion it should have FORD or the name of a Ford product stamped on the car to be a FORD.
A little leniency to one can go a long way toward upsetting many.

I did find this site.....

Thanks Stroller and Model40fan. Between 40's expert knowledge and your link......I'm pretty sure it's a Ford.

I'm sorry Stroller but I'm going to have you take my name off the list. I don't have anything competitive enough to race with.

Nobody said you have to win....

I'm sorry Stroller but I'm going to have you take my name off the list. I don't have anything competitive enough to race with.

...
IF ONLY THE WINNERS RACED THEY WOULD BE LONELY...
WHERE ELSE CAN YOU COMPETE ON A NATIONAL LEVEL WITH SOMETHING YOU BUILT !

Please take a look at Page One for new info and a new Host......

fords, fords, fords...8 heets... double elimination series...
how many cars have arrived ?...
also, $3.50 return shipping for [2] cars is fine, I have plenty of small boxes, as I eat the darn granola anyway...
as finals host I will make FFF series winner and runner up blister cards to go out with the returns...
do we have a points guru ?

I don't know points...any ideas?....

Mine are not suppose to be there until Saturday...

Hotrainiac's cars arrived today......they look fast and beautiful. All of you guys have submitted some really nice cars.....Hope I get mine ready in time and that's no joke.....even though I laugh...

Color shifter Mustang?....

These cars arrived last week. One was in a blister pack that said Traction Event on it. If these are your cars let me know. Oh and stupid me lost the paperwork, but then I saw Traction Event written on the back and thought I had it figured out.
Obviously I did not.

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

They are nice cars.

I hope I can enter this, but the NASCAR I would put in for the newer Ford is needed at the RIHWC on the fourteenth. And I'd have to figure out what to do for an old one.

They are nice cars.

Yes those are my entries, and thanks for the compliment.

Color shifter Mustang?....

Not that I know of, I found this one in a 10 pack from Wally World or Tarjet.

I get mixed up when I see these overlapping quote references. I will try to be more careful.....

Please look at Page One for a slight rules change and to see who has arrived here...............

I am wondering how well HW cars roll thru snow....

I was wondering if there was going to be a "weather" factor! Shall we change the name to the "Ford Artic Vortex"

Hey Stroller......would it be too much trouble to post pictures of all the cars as they arrive so we can size up the competition?

1/64...

Too funny Mr. Schmitty

With the help of Clayfeat who has the much better close up camera we will put up pics of all the entries thus far, later today..............That last sentence shows that I spent a lot of time with my German grandmother when I was growing up.......

Just wanted to make sure you got the weber cabin racing entries for this race, they were in the same box with the Rally Case entires and have their own entry form. Can you confirm?

Thanks

Yep they are here and they're picking on the other cars....

I think that is the coolest transition piece I've ever seen....

Okay this is where Stroller totally loses his mind....

We only have ten entrants in this series. I was thinking of adding 12 more cars from my stock stash to raise the total number to 16 old and sixteen new school. These would be unmodified stock mostly old cars. This would fill out the roster. I'm naming these cars Mark 21 through Mark 36. I really hate doing byes or fighting to get in the starting column. This is a new idea so what do you guys think before I start digging and find I don't have 12 Fords................

Dang, sorry Stroller, I guess I should have entered with something.

As it turned out I couldn't get to the post office today. How about I send 6 extra Fords, 3 old, 3 new, so you don't have to come up with 12?

I do appreciate that but I have found 6 old 6 new..............09 ford focus, 91 mustang mach 1, 79 ford mustang boss 429, 71 maverick grabber, ford gt 90, 73 ford falcon xb.....40 ford, 64 ford galaxie, 66 ford fairlane, 67 Shelby gt, 40 ford woodie , 65 cobra coupe.....
None have fte wheels, or lube but none are duds either...

I dont have any objections, but do have two questions.

1) Will you be sending the stockers along for the duration to each location?

2) Can you post up their weights - so I can judge my cars against them should they run against each other. Thanks in advance.

Wouldn't it be eleven entrants if you add Weber Cabin? I don't see that team listed on page One.

Ok I corrected the Entrants list on page one. The only ones not here yet is Dadvball , Windswept, and Team HalfFast.
Also there is still a spot for K & O Racing. I will add whatever "Mark" cars that are needed to make 16 "entrants" and no I am not sending them along to the next Host. If you want to use this system you have to add your own cars. Either way is fine with me.............. ....Stroller.

Is Red Star going to join? He is certainly welcomed....

cool... we hosts get to dig into the coulda been box and run some of 'em...
remember the gassers series... we were 4 cars short...filled by hosts, I entered a car that met the wheel/ weight restrictions but had no fenders...darn thing won it... well i'll tell ya what... that was a mistake...
any sloppy "stand ins" will DNF in the second round no matter the out come...

I understand what you are saying and that sounds fair. My new track has a third track between the main race tracks , called the "Grassy Strip", this is where the Marks will run in the second round, but I really don't think they stand a chance.........

Then how will the points work? Stacking the field with dedicated losers...

Well now that I have thought about it and got some good advice. I am not going to add any extra cars. It would not be fair to everyone. Please excuse my inexperience........ ....Stroller

MY other two cents - as long as each of the other hosts agree to do the same adjustments and limits (or better - use your same "marked" stocker cars) it should still be equally fair to each racer in regards to points. (Your stockers can be sent back to you at the end of the series with your build entries.)

If you decide to go with just the "official" cars, we just need to use a smaller bracket format, per the number of entries received. Again each host doing the same thing along the way.

Thanks Milton but I think I will just go with the "Official" cars............

You guys could just race the "official" cars and do it as time trials.

DadVBall Racing arrived today, nice looking rides......

Is it Sunday yet?

just opened up an fte "way 2 fast"... yuk ! ...1 good wheel, can't use either axle for racing...at least I can use the engines and base later...

I missed this till now. I think I will run all the cars together, since it makes sense. Thanks Smitty.

I have been practicing video taping my new track in action today and things look good. The only problem is that racing inside is not going to work. My house is just too small so coming Sunday I am going outside (I think). Last time I tried taping outside in the cold my camera kept fogging over. I hope it's going to work this time..............................

Wish it was Sunday.......

Are you guys ready to race??....Todays mail came and there were no new arrivals so I could do some racing today. The temperature on my back patio is 32 degrees today. No chance of rain. So we will see how tough the old guy is.....

Good luck everybody. I am doing random bracketing so don't be surprised if you end up racing yourself. At least you will be assured a win if that happens.....Best 2 out of 3 heats.............Short Track first......

Great looking field!

Love hotrainiac's mighty maverick with mega spoiler and Delta's "super chromes"

Thanks for braving the chill stroller

Great looking rides all...

Stroller, you can still split the field...best of luck with Mother Nature......

Go Fords Go!!!!!!!!

I found another two cents!

If you do decide to split the field - you could run old school on one side and new school on the other with the old school winner against the new school winner fields.

Okay here is how I am going to run this, so everybody is happy and I kind of like the idea my self.

Today we are running split schools Old versus old and then New versus new with a final race between the two school winners.

Tomorrow it will be everybody versus everybody.

So here in Spokane we have a possibility of four winners, but probably three, and maybe somebody will take all the marbles.

All the other hosts of course can run their segments any way they wish. Except no demolition derbies, ok?

So her I go on my first try at taping a race..... ............this could be fun or hell..............Stroller.

I'm not sure but Traction event said he would sort out the points for us soon. You do have a very good car....

I sent Stroller a pm to clarify the points and how they will be awarded.

Also nice racing everyone...some close races out there.

Sounds like a lot of fun! Sorry I wasn't able to get in on this. FFF II, though, I want in!

Congrats to DadvBall and Stroller on their wins! Have you thawed completely yet, there, Stroller? That's devotion to racing!

Well the old guy felt like the "ancient guy" this past weekend. There will be no more racing here till Saturday maybe Friday. Then I will do the head to head race for Old School vs New School. I am going to wait for Fast Fred to run Old School vs New School in one gigantic race. The race may show up here in pieces. We shall see. Also a "pardon me" goes out to Weber Cabin for saying "No problem." after beating him the first race of the New School. I only said that because I thought he was gonna knock me down to the lower bracket in the very first race. He is a tough competitor. I just didn't want to come off as being arrogant. Well hurry here Fred and as Smitty says "Go Fred go!"

1 point for 3rd

And one point for each outright win.

There is only one overall winner, and second and third.......and winners in old school and new school....ties will be settled by a knife fight in the parking lot.... Or Smitty could run tie breakers in each school for first, second and third place.....

I'm taking a moment to thank Traction Event for totaling the points and doing an excellent job......Well done...Thanx.

That was fun to watch Stroller! Congrats to Dadvbal's Fat 40 and the Stroller Stang on their wins.
Some really cool-looking entries, Sloppies (beauts as usual), Traction's black rat, Rally's Pinto, and Delta's duo, but I have to say my favs were the Hotrainiac entries -simply gorgeous -that Mighty Maverick in blue was fast too and was on it's way to victory until it derailed.

I agree last weekend's racing was exciting and surprising, but this weekend the track is faster much faster....couldn't get 30 ft of track in my tiny house but I got 24 ft, and the low and slow 6 lane track start is gone, replaced by a 6 ft ramp with 45 inch rise. So far the test cars have made the abrupt transition section with no incidents. What happens this weekend one does not know. Also JDC why weren't you in this one?......

Thanks for the compliment JDC. I'm trying for a new approach this year. Last year I did a few wheel swaps and added weight. I don't know if my cars were out of balance or the CG was wrong or what. This year I'm just doing a wheel swap on cars with a metal body and chassis and leave the weight and balance up HW or JL. I didn't even track test my entries. I put them on my slightly unlevel desk and they began to roll with no assistance. I figured if they are not competitive at least they will look nice.

hey Stroller....did HalfFast or Windswept ever make it or have they dropped?

hey Stroller....did HalfFast or Windswept ever make it or have they dropped?

They never made it here.....

Things that happened today:

Fast Fred arrived....

I worked correcting the track. It needed tweaking....

I remembered a technique from when I shot skeet to be able to do the following pan for video. The trick is to turn your lower body in the direction the clay pigeon is going first, before hollering pull. I did that got some pretty fair videos...

I ran the first 14 races. A fast track is much different than a slower track. It makes for new winners and losers.....I was surprised.....

Not posting anything till Sunday......

Oh I also had my first piece of fried chicken in over a year...yummm.....

No waffles?

Suspense builds......

I know what you mean... I love waffles !

With fried chicken??.........

Finishing up some business from last weekend. A race between the School Champions, DvB 16 vs Stroller 19. It starts with DvB 16's blue 40 Ford in lane 2 and Stroller 19's maroon 05 Mustang in lane 4, enjoy/

That's true and it has not been drilled, that I can tell.............

Congrats DvB on kicking my butt.....

Great video Stroller! I have to learn how to use my camera so I can make them.

And thanks guys. Yes, it's a stock, non-FTE, '40. Didn't have time to do any mods 'cause of working on the LJLRC track, so a little graphite was added and I ran it down the track twice against the Mustang entry. The Mustang is a 2nd time around from the Factory Wars. Just stripped the decals I originally put on and a little graphite. The '40 spanked it both times.

in my case, what we have here... is a failure to comprehend !
i think some hosts would try and post videos if they knew how... we need a click by click on how to download to youtube and then post here... maybe someone can type something up and maybe attatch it to a PM.reply to those requesting help...

Awesome racing & videos Stroller! Congrats Smitty on the victory and to Fast Fred for finishing #2. What a bummer to see my car come off the track just before the finish line.

Looking forward to hosting next week. I think I'll run the full field like this first and then split them up like they ran the first week on the 9th at the LJLRC meeting.

This is a revised bracket. When I was looking over the bracket I saw a wins for 6 at race 17 and 23. Any cars yet??.........DvB?........

Cars arrived safe & sound Friday. Love the fact that Smitty made sure we all have our own two car blister pack. Great job Smitty & thank you.

I'll be running the full field this weekend and saving the split field for the LJLRC meet next week. I took all the cars that ran in the first round last week and put them in the second round. The second round cars are in the first round. I mixed and matched so that nobody is racing either round against the car they raced last week or against themselves. After that it is what it is. I will take pics later of the bracket and hopefully the competitors and post them.
Today is pretty tied up doing things that need to be done before the appraiser comes Tuesday. We're trying to refinance and were lucky to get a quick appointment but lots to do. I may try to race late tonight or early Sunday afternoon so it's done well before the Super Bowl.

house comes first... we'll be here.

Lets try this new site that Brian mentioned. This should be the first two rounds. Just like last week there are 3 people with both cars in the very first round. I think if the next two race hosts do the same thing then all 12 of us will have raced both cars in the first round. Just trying to keep it fair.

Sweet....race time....what is the track layout this week?

My bad, sorry.
Forgot to take a pic and it's broken down and put away due to the wife said so as the appraiser is coming Tuesday. But, track is segmented, using a combination of the 12" arrow track from Wal-Mart, and the 20.5" track from TRU. Overall length from start to finish is 18'-10". Starting line is 45" off the floor, 55" long at about a 45 degree angle. A 48" long kicker starts at 13" above the floor and then joins a 10'-3" long straight at floor level.

Thanks Smitty and

This coming weekend the Rhode Island Johnny Lightning Club have said they would run races for our Ford Ford Ford series.
The director of that club called me and asked if they could run the races as single elimination. This is due to the 100s of cars they have to run that day. I told him single elimination is fine, if it helps out. We will return to double elimination in following races at Traction Event and Smitty's venues. Thanks for listening.....Stroller

Ok, so here are the brackets for tomorrows racing. Classes have been split, 11 cars in New School, 11 cars in Old School. Cars that raced in the first round at Stroller's were put in the second round. All other selections were random pick a number from a hat type of thing. I only took pics of the first round which has 3 races. Winners will move to the 2nd round and I'll try to get pics during the course of the action.

Gentlemen, get ready to start your engines, and good luck to all!

Jeremy & I would like to thank everyone for letting us participate and to run Fords, Ford, Fords on the LJLRC track today. For those unfamiliar with our set up, it's a two lane, 24 ft. long from start to finish. The starting gate is about 54" high. Upper track is 12 ft. long into a 24" transition and then 10 ft. to the finish line. We have a plexiglas flip gate at the start and a digital time for the finish. There are pics of the track on the Lincoln Johnny Lightning Race Club Facebook page. Jeremy took pics of all the cars in the starting gate so if you can stop by FB to see them.

It's been a very long day so I'll keep this short.

good stuff dadvbal... congrats TE... sloppies, not so much...

Wow another Big Dog is starting to howl....wtg TE..............Nice reporting DvB
Nice to see my old school car did pretty good.....

Man I needed some good news....and doubling down at LJLRC is real good news!!! Good stuff all around some familiar faces at the top. My 32 is looking rough, missing some of the grill...must have made it faster...lol. Cars coming back to Michigan this week hoping for some hot racing to help melt all this snow!

I'll work on the points and have them up tomorrow... Being single elimination and no run off for third in each class makes it tough....tie for 3rd? each racer gets a bonus point? I sort them out best I can.

Maybe the next host could run the 3rd place run offs next weekend?

Nice wins Traction!

Maybe the next host could run the 3rd place run offs next weekend?

My bad. I had forgotten about third place points. I think the run off is a good idea. I'd do it here but the cars are all boxed and set to hit the post office tomorrow.
Chris, I've thrown in extra copies of the brackets for you and Smitty as well as copies of the races already run at Strollers and here. I'll let you know the tracking number tomorrow.

I can run them off here...Fishtail just got his Burnout Track up and dialed in...This might be just the shakedown race the track was looking for... Thoughts?

Fine by me. Mailed the cars today. Tracking number is 9114901230801403491617.

Points are sorted, except for the 3rd place run offs...I'll post as soon as those races finish.

Cars are here...I'll open them and run the 3rd place run offs tomorrow. Go RLD go!

Rcae 4 wrap up

3rd place run offs, held on Fishtail's Burnout track 11.6ft of fun. cars are released 18in off the ground with a shallow transition to the floor.

OLD school
DVB16 vs MF10
Race 1: cars left even and after the burnout section..MF10 pulled about a 1/2 car lead at the finish

3rd place bonus point goes to MF10!

NEW school
SJ1 vs STR19
Race 1: cars left even, at the end of the burnout section Stroller had an advantage that grew to over a car length at the finish

3rd place bonus point goes to STR19!

Points, if all my math is right, one point for each win and

I hope your cars roll well this set up has over18 ft of flat with very little drop to get the cars moving....

• Overall length 20ft 2in
• Height of release point 9in
• Drop to transition 5in
• Transition 1ft 4in
• Flat 18ft 3in

Good luck to everyone!

Well I blew off K day, so racing is in the books...editing video as soon as this post is done. I'm glad I taped the races, some super close finishes.

I'm headed out for popcorn... USA over the Ruskies in Olympic hockey this morning... and... diecast racing... cool

Ok racers!, here are my first "race day" videos. Not perfect, but with each event I'll get better. I dug into the vault for some music.

First off, great racing today. When the cloud of race gas and tire smoke finally cleared we had solid winners in each class. There were some epic close battles... The low track proved to be a stong point for some cars while others fell by the wayside. Lots of side by side action!

I'll post the brackets and points tomorrow, once everyone has had a chance to watch the show.

Don't mind the race dates..I had the title pages set..

At least you will be assured a win if that happens.....Best 2 out of 3 heats.............Short Track first......

the stars shine...

Wow that was some close racing....not sure if I'm suppose to say who won but Wow!!

That is fun to watch, cool track.

Nice work on the video, too!

Congrates to the winners (again!)

No Wally today

That is fun to watch, cool track.

Your car had wins against both 1st and 2nd place finishers...impressive.

I enjoy hosting for the simple fact that you can look at the other racers cars and their strategies on putting them together. Rally case has some very unique builds this series. Some very cool cars

Definitely enjoyed the video. Watching it makes me regret not building cars for this race.

Congrats to the winners! Awesome racing and really great videos Chris! Thanks for doing them.

Definitely enjoyed the video. Watching it makes me regret not building cars for this race.

Altered Assault is coming up soon and I'm running Cops and Robbers again this year....jump back in!!...I say that even though I am in fear of that.....

Some racing notes:
D6 car 11 came to play very solid performance.
DVB, both cars were in some long battles, came out on the wrong end in each case...
Stroller, car 19 stormed through the losers bracket then on to beat me twice...this got him a TON of points if my math is right..he is pulling away.

Yes I raced the two champs just for fun...I did not tape this race, but my 32 came out on top by over a car. no points for this

Next race we'll speed things back up. Hope my video skills can keep up.

Picking up the pace, my standard drop, but added one section of track.
Not Quite a ¼ mile
• Overall length 20ft 2in
• Height of release point 2ft

I think in those last 2 races we were so evenly matched it was only by DSL "Dumb S*** Luck" that I won. It could have went either way.......

fast fred didn't win but did a bunch of racing on his way through the losers bracket... fun to watch...

I'm glad everyone enjoyed the videos, it brings another element to the race. Especially with close finishes. I'll work on improving my editing skills and identifying the racers.

More to come this weekend.

Faster track proved a challenge for my video, and me. Just about running to keep up. May need to look into a better camera. Great action today, just hope a caught it all.

Grab your popcon and sodas for later Showtime 8pm eastern.

Gotta get there early. I want a good seat.

SLOPPIES WILL BE DRINKING MILK... GIVES US SOMETHING TO CRY IN LATER !

I think the slower track gave better video, but it's a learning experience. I could not get the slow motion to work out...too blurry. I'll post points and brackets once everyone has had a chance to view the show.

Ok race fans sit back and enjoy...

How NOT to drive a Ford Mustang dragster...............

Looks like the wheelie bar broke, it really sucks when that happens. And not to be a jerk, but it's not a dragster. It's a drag car

snafu... gridiron rented the racing room to a lady turning 90... I had to move into a much smaller room with shorter track...
starter, [1] angled section, transfer, [4] sections and the finish line..
then they told me I only had an hour as they rented that room... so I ran the same car [3] times in each lane, the difference was in the thousandths of a second...not much lane advantage...
I ran 1 pass each pairing in double eliminations as they were more predictable time wise...
also no time pix as the flash takes so long the timer switches over to 1 and 2 lane placements...tried 10 times...
...
hope to have the place to myself next weekend... may race Friday if needed...

Awesome job Smitty!

Congrats to TE for sweeping again and for being the overall champ!
Congrats to everyone for entering. These were great looking cars and I had fun running them.

Congrates to TE for being the champ!

To tired to do the math, but isnt it somewhere close to 600 scale mph?

There is only one overall winner, and second and third.......and winners in old school and new school....ties will be settled by a knife fight in the parking lot.... Or Smitty could run tie breakers in each school for first, second and third place.....

Final points!!! looks like a parking lot meeting is in order...

mathematical overdose yesterday... called a retired machinist /'66 mustang drag racer... he plugged my average time [1.800] and distance [198"...5.5 yds] into the boxes on his racing page... called me back... 6.25 mph x 64 = 400 mph....
so most of us did over 400 mph at least once....
at 1.750 sec. = 411.3 mph... _ _ _ at 1.70 sec. = 423.5 mph...

darn TE never went that slow ! ...slowpoke - 1.779 sec... his fastest was 1.756 sec.

Awesome! Thanks to all the hosts and I'll get my return shipping out.
Also, I got my track! I'll be looking forward to hosting a race very soon. Got some stuff to figure out and I'll probably have Jim, aka JDC442, lend a hand. Might be a good opportunity to try and get him onto his workbench too.

I am on disability from the Army and it will take me a while to send them, but they will be coming. I want no one to beg off, because I am sending one anyway. Those of you not listed on the RLD data base of addresses should send me your address. Also if there is a particular car or type you would like, let me know. I own none of the Sweet 16.... ..........Stroller.

Smitty, my cars arrived yesterday, thank you. Also thanks for the T-bird gasser. I'll find a front bumper for it in my parts box & when it's together post a pic.
I forgot to send the shipping money so I'll get that out to you before the week is over.

Only thing I don't understand. Shouldn't overall be Old School points plus New School Points....Not that it makes any difference...

I was wondering that myself way back when the points first started being tabulated. I thought overall would be the total points achieved by each two car team. Then I figured it appeared to be the points leader after both classes were merged and instead of it being 11 two car teams it was like there were 22 one car teams. I didn't go back to see if it was mentioned in the beginning, but it's been being kept like this since the start. If I remember right, the last time I looked at the points the outcome for Overall if it's changed would make a difference in the order.

A quick check of points, if totals for Old & New were added together for "Overall", would change 3rd place.
TE would have 95 points
Stroller would have 71 points
Milton would have 45 points

So it would change the 3rd place winner.

Ok sending out prizes tomorrow. I need addresses for delta6 and Milton Fox......please let me know today......

Okay all the prizes for you guys are on the way. For some reason Fast Fred got 2 cars. Weber Cabin and Rally Case were sent in the same package. Extra Car for 2nd and 3rd Place winners and even more for our Champion Traction Event. Sorry it took so long................... ............Not running Fords Fords Fords again.....I like more variety....... ....It was fun though................Stroller

Got my prize cars today! Thank you very much. Looking forward to poppin' them open and trying down the track.

Received two prize cars in the mail today - thanks! Have to confess my first thoughts were "how many different ways I could modify that Ford"! and "now that would make a different looking gasser"!

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

I think that Ford base might fit the 55 Bel Air body

the axles will fall out, almost any early ford body will fit and get an alignment saving front bumper in the prossess !

Got My prize pack...THANKS Stroller
