Forgotten Highway - New drag track
Chaos Canyon is going to the drags. We have a new and unique drag track that will kick off racing soon. It's designed to look like a four lane highway that passes through the countryside of the Waikato region in NZ.
the track is about 5.5m long (almost scale 1/4mile) with custom timing that includes the winning lane and their time plus avg speed - speed reported is more close to realistic speed rather than scale speed, so cars are doing around 200kmh+ rather than scale speed of 400kmh+.
What makes the track unique is that we can run two lane drags like a normal track but also have the option to go to four lane start with a merger just before the finish. The reason is we want to have races against cops with consequences. If the cops get ahead of you at the merger or take you out, you get busted and lose your ride to the impound. To begin with the cops will be slower but they will be replaced with faster and faster versions over time

The track is hand made with some 3D printed parts that I've custom designed. Along with the billboard timer sign I have an indicator light at the end tunnel for each lane so it is easy to see at a distance which lane wins and there is a return lane so the cars can come back to me at the start without having to go and get them every time.

The start elevation is also lower than most drag tracks and the larger slope flattens out around a third of the way down the track, then about a metre with a slight slope then the rest is all flat so there are opportunities for overtaking on the big end. It also means there is no Whimp in the track. The lanes are also wider than normal so if you are fast but can't run straight you can be beaten by someone that can.
At this stage I'll only be running my own cars but may take mails ins at some point.
If anyone would like info on the timing system, program or wiring let me know and I'm happy to put a detailed post together so you can make your own.

Nice looking track with a great concept. Well done! Makes me think about doing a little drag section myself;).
When do we race on it?

That looks sweet!
