Gravitywerx Mail-in Race Qualifying

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMWgtNkncaw The agony! Didn't think it would be so difficult to get participants for a viral Hot Wheels Event lasting 10 weeks on the greatest open track on the planet. I couldn't have made it any easier: A mail-in race requiring participants, who buy these cars by the case, to drop a few in the mail and sit back and let me do all the heavy lifting. Actually, it's more repetitive than heavy.
Only one site member was curious enough to check out something besides straight orange plastic. The three cars of GspeedR will occupy the first three spots in round 1. Gpeed's car qualified at 432 scale MPH and his other two family members were in the high 300s. They will be refered to as Gspeed1, Gspeed2, etc.
To fill the other 27 spots (A, B, and C race) I drug out my tired veterans minus the top 12 from the Summer race and timed them the same way using my Hot Wheels radar gun. 2 of the cars matched the speed of the top Gspeed car and will line up 4th and 5th. Neither of these cars finished their trial on their wheels and have never performed well. The rest of the spots were filled fastest to slowest (high 300s to high 200s).
9 Site members names will be assigned to these cars (3 each) in repeating order of how many posts they have. So RDL will have car #s 4, 13 (starting 3rd B race), 22 (starting 2nd C race). They will be refered to as RDL 1,2, etc. Much mayhem is expected so don't fret about a lousy start position. I plan on starting this weekend.
It would have been a lot more fun with fresh blood instead of having to assign feral clunkers to people. But the race can be joined at any time. Any car I receive will be in the next race. And maybe some of these B warriors will provide some competitition for the GspeedR team.

Woohooo! My 1st mail-in race...Bring it on!!

'Participating' on your track is my pleasure, George. I figured if I'm going to advocate 'open track' diecast racing, the least I can do is support others who do as well.

Lookin' forward to the results! Any chance of you recording the weight of each car?

Won't be recording any weight because I don't have a scale. If I had one I wouldn't use it because it's irrelevant. There are too many variables in open-lane racing besides physics. I do know that a plastic-chassied vehicle will not win an A race with metal-chassied competitors. Some are blindingly fast but flip frequently and are sometimes scooped up by heavier, low-frontal cars. I don't keep any data on characteristics of cars that win. Only that certain models perform, and others do not. I would know what cars to send to an open track, but wouldn't be shocked if they didn't perform as well as they do on my track. There are too many variables, just like in real racing.
