The track is built to memorialize my friend Shane Whittenbarger. The start and finish lines were units he purchased to build his own track, but he passed before he got his chance to start it. Shane's parents donated both units and my track plans were changed to accommodate them. Thank you Norma and larry. I hope you like it.

The track is 8 lanes and 53' long. There is a full fifty feet of track between the start gate and finish lines. The start gate and finish lines were heavily modified to operate appropriately. Mattel's red, white and blue rolls of track are used through out.

Lettering done (and applied) by Kevan Bence of flamemasks.com

Vegas was the first outing for the track and after sorting out a small electrical issue, the first cars were prepped to race. The first race was between the FTE Ferrari of Jeff Glasson (of Diecast Audio and DCS) and the FTE Mustang of Chris Parker (HWC Chris). Jeff pulled out an easy win and the racing was kicked off for the weekend.

The track performed beautifully all weekend, got many compliments and I wrapped up the racing sunday morning with a smile on my face. It really was a great weekend.

Damn. That is a beast! Eight lanes of racing madness. Glad to hear Jeff got in on the inaugural race, I hope he's going to Nashville too. Looks like you almost need a semi to travel with this thing.

Looks super well built too so I guess the only downside is you need 53-feet of space! How long is the hill? I might have to do a Q&A with your for the blog on this super beast. I don't think we've seen anything quite like it and it seems like you documented it quite well...exactly the stuff I want to feature! I'll mail you with some Qs, if you don't mind.

Great inspiration, thanks Jason...back at Redline after a year and you're already making an impact! Thanks!!

Wow, that is a beast. A traveling beast no doubt. That looks awesome. You definitely have to keep us updated on your races and how they go. Also, where you got your Hot Wheels red, white, and blue track from.

The 50' rolls of red, white and blue track were sold online at
least 5 years ago.

Wow, impressive. If I had 8 lanes my races would be over in 3 rounds!

Really like the red, white, blue track...sweet.

Thanks for sharing the photos. Would love to see your races live someday

The red, white and blue stuff is a bit hard to come by... especially if you run eight lanes.

Thanks for the comments guys. it's always good to hear 'em.

The track will be getting around a bit this year. There are stops in Nashville and Dallas for the DCS conventions and it'll also be in Iowa for Lightning Fest.

I'll have to find out if Brian has a 110 outlet available in Austin....(hint hint)

As far as rolls of track go..... Be patient guys, I hear there will be a product on the market very soon. (SHHHHH!)

I almost forgot.... I'll probably be down for the South Texas Diecast picnic in Nov (I think) There are no solid plans for that, but I've been there the past two years.

I should be hitting some autoramas this year also, although that's with the small track.

That reminds me of the big track that I built for
DCX in 2005.

http://www.racegrooves.com/rg/setups/DCX/DCX.htm

7 1/2' tall, 54' long, and 8 lanes!

I could have made it longer but that's all the space I could
fit in the booth LOL! I love red, white and blue, so that's
the colors that I painted the ramp but I used my own track.

I guess I'll hold off on buying any rolls of track until then

Mark: 7 1/2 feet tall! That's very impressive. I bet those cars just scream down the track.

Hey Mark, do you still make your track? Or did you stop selling it?

I find it interesting the length of the downhill compared to the straight away. Maybe you need that length to generate enough speed to go that far. But that's awesome track. The fact that you need a step ladder to load it says enough right there!

Brian and JDC442,

It was an awesome presentation but it was too fast.
Some cars would be going so fast that they would roll over
in their lane. Because my track has higher sidewalls though,
they didn't fly out of their lane and interfere with other
racers.

I need to cut down the supporting towers this Summer.

Another note, by looking at the pics again, is that it looks
like I had too much height/slope compared to straight-away.
I much rather have 1/3 height/slope and 2/3 straight-away.
This gives all cars a chance and balances out some of the
advantage that the heavier cars have.

As for selling the track, I have inventory but I have been
focusing on doing the parties. Selling the track is time
consuming because people want to ask questions about
how to build the ramp, the start gate, the catch box,
the electronic finish line, etc. In the end, I wind up
spending a lot of time answering questions and that
doesn't make it profitable for me.
