How do you do YouTube Vids..?

I was wondering how you guys made those cool videos. Specifically what format do you use when uploading them and does flourescent light mess things up?

Here is an example...type your message that you are wanting to say, and then click the "youtube" tab directly above your text box. And then paste the last part of the address in that area. Example: LgX1mWJM_74 is the last part of this Youtube address. Copy and paste it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgX1mWJM_74

For actually making the videos, my camera dumps out a very large AVI video format file. My camera is pretty old so I'm sure the newer models spit out MPG or WMV or MOV files (iPhones do the MOV files).

As far as environment is concerned, the type of light you have shouldn't matter but the quality of light will. Just like still photos, it's all about having good lighting. More light the better.

For editing I have Adobe Premiere Elements - which is a lightweight version of their full video editing software. Honestly, what I have is way overkill as I typically do little more than add text, music and some transition fading. Prior to having the Adobe stuff I used the old Windows Movie Maker that used to come with Windows and it did the trick just fine. Simple and to the point.

Once I have my video edited, I export a WMV file (Windows Media format) and then upload that to YouTube. I always export at 640x480 size so it shows up decent when it gets embedded. My camera has limits on the resolution it takes in the first place, so going above that size doesn't get me anything. By all rights you should export as large as you can while keeping file size in mind and then let YouTube do all the resizing otherwise.

I use Windows Movie Maker. Its free and easy to use. Dunno what kind of lights are good, i'm not really much of a photographer. I know the light in my basement isn't too good but I don't think the quality of my videos are bad. One day i'll make a tutorial for making them, just haven't had the time yet.

I use Power Director. If you know where to look, you can find "free" versions that you can download. I like it because you input your you tube information and it automatically connects and uploads your videos for you. There is no converting of the video that is needed by you. The software does it for you. It is complicated at times, but having used the Windows Movie Maker before, I was able to figure it out.

Windows Movie Maker does that too.
