Give odd or even numbers to both cars on a team.  If a team has even numbers draw competitor from the odd numbered cars.  If there is an odd number of teams draw two odd teams first and then continue with the odd/even draws as long as the first wasn't the same team.  I hope this makes sense, I racked my brain trying to find a solution.

  • I just shuffle a list of names and manually move things around until it seems fair — redlinederby
  • Yeah probably easier that way, i'm ocd with making brackets random. — Jdub3000
  • I follow you...just need it for the 1st rd. — LeagueofSpeed

Track cleaning day has arrived....going to put some water in the bathtub and clean this vintage track up....makes you wonder how many HW cars have rolled down this track during it's history....well I do...waxing nostalgic here.

Need your address info please. I went to the PO and didn't realize the info was in the thread. I'll get these out tomorrow, Priority Mail. Thanks.

Man, that was some dirty track.....bath water looked like I just gave my Lab a bath. The track should be/has to be faster now with who knows how many years of dust and grime off it. Needless to say, the part I was looking forward to the least is now done....still love the vintage Redline track and glad it's what the cars at Tobacco Road will run on.

  • I'd say this track is 45 years old at the minimum — LeagueofSpeed
  • Yes but it is old school seamless track, what everybody is looking for/wants — Mopar_Mafia

My cars are on the way, an according to the USPS they should be there Friday.

As far as figuring the brackets, I usually just pull the names out of a hat, making sure nobody is racing themselves in the first round. Depending on how many entries there are, either a single bracket or an A & B bracket. If you do the later divide the teams so each person has a car in each one of the brackets. Once you have the A bracket set you can adjust the B bracket accordingly if needed.

It's been a while, but I think I've been using "print your bracket", or something like that. I'll see if I can find a copy and let you know.

  • I'll be on the lookout! Not overly concerened about the brackets...it's going to be fun setting thre field!! — LeagueofSpeed

Going forward....all teams that are racing should be in house by late Saturday afternoon/early evening, and I will set the bracket Saturday night. Sunday will be the Tobacco Road reveal video ( and kudos to the Lady of Speed for a really good idea) and team and 1st rd match up video.....Memorial Day we race. I'm having a blast with this and enjoying the entire process that goes along with hosting a race, and hope Tobacco Road becomes a "must race" destination moving forward in our hobby.

Three more teams have made their way to Tobacco Road...CC Rider Racing...Color Country Racing...and G-Force Racing. They will be put through weigh-in and inspections tonight......Welcome to Tobacco Road!!!

I just updated the first post with a photo of some extra prizes I'm tossing in for the winner. It's not much but they are both metal/metal cars so if nothing else they'll be great donors or candidates for wheel swapping.

Otherwise, beyond anything the host is offering, typically the winner will also receive any entry cars that are not returned to their owner. This isn't a requirement but usually a nice gesture that can sweeten the pot a bit.

I'm stoked and excited to see this race happen. Not only do I think it will be some great racing on a great new track, it's a great way to "kick off" a new summer of racing after a relatively light winter season. Personally, I'm thankful for all the effort LoS has put in to make this an anticipated event...it's been motivating for me to get back in the groove with racing and promoting.

  • So far, everybody wants them back...but I've got something in mind. — LeagueofSpeed

Another team has made it's way to Tobacco Road....DVB Racing has passed inspections...Team Photo to come!!!

Welcome to Tobacco Road!!!

  • Damn, what's total entry count so far? Gonna be a hell of a bracket. — redlinederby
  • 14 teams aka 28 cars I think...love it. Was hoping to hit 16 teams. — LeagueofSpeed
  • Never heard from Kand...thought he was in for sure and Flatwoods Furry got my address but I received no cars — LeagueofSpeed
  • Glad they made it! — Dadvball

28 cars works good, 14 cars in grid A and B with two byes per grid. Single elimination bracket showing, but have to win two in a row to advance. I will split the teams up so they can't meet until the final.
