Looking For A Finish Lane Timer System.

Frchkn Thursday, 2/1/2018

Hello everyone, first time posting. I have done some research on the race timers for the hot wheels tracks. I have found a few systems that have been built but had little luck finding pre-built systems. I don't have the time to make my own I'd rather just purchase a reliable timer and start gate system.

Any help? Thank you in advance.

Look up pinewood derby timers. There’s one that is compatible with hot wheels. I believe you order it custom made based on the set up of your track. (ie: lane spacing between the tracks, or whether you are using hot wheels track or blu track). Not sure though if it has an actual display or if you have to use the software and a monitor for displaying the times. And they have the drop pin starting gate also.

Would be nice if there was something available for hot wheels specifically, however short of building something yourself that’s the only option I know of. Hope that helps.

One of the oldest finish lines that can support 1:64 cars is The Judge. They make pinewood timers too. They're very pricey but I don't doubt their quality (although I've never used one). Might be worth a look depending on your budget.

Another is Micro Wizard, which makes a finish line kit that has all the parts. You do the build and wiring and setup with your track. They're targeting pinewood too but many have taken this kit and built it down to work with 1:64 scale.

Another of sorts is the Drag Track system. It's a complete downhill kit that includes a mechanic finish line with timer. It's not a kit so you'd have to break down the playset to get the parts you want but if you like that sort of thing, could be a more affordable route to take.

But you're right in that there aren't a lot of kits or sets targeted at 1:64 diecast racing. And as much as I've tried to make my own or even find one retail, finish lines with timers just aren't cheap. Whether you're shelling out for a prebuilt thing or putting the investment in your own build.

Good luck on your hunt. Please share any info you find along the way and photos once you start building.

Thank you everyone for the replies and the options provided. I have found one made by dragon racing systems. It works with the original hot wheel orange tracks. Anyone have experience with it?

Thanks for the link, never heard of that system before. It looks very much like the parts that come with the Drag Track system...makes me wonder if that's the actual source parts for that.

Looks like the Dragon System requires you drill your own holes for the sensors. Just be careful getting that straight and even. And those type of sensors are often very sensitive to the light in the room.

It is the drag track system. They do work well. The sensors are  very sensitive  as posted above.I found they work best with some type of lights used for each end of the track..You can even use clamp on desk lamps..
