Matchbox the Movie
Discussion
They just announced Days of Thunder 2 will be happening in 2028. More new toys to play with!
Nothing wrong with some shameless car spectacle! This does feel like a "slap the brand on it" movie but okay. But if they start the movie with kids in a sandbox and then it kinda dissolves into the real car action, that could be fun - Toy Story-ish style.
I'll admit I'm kind of excited for Days of Thunder 2, but I'm also a sucker for Tom Cruise films and the ridiculous action that comes with it. Although if he can put together this one anywhere close to what they did with Top Gun 2, it'll be a fun ride.
Judging from the trailer I saw, not specifically the one linked, I feel the film is "self aware dumb," film & audience hand in hand, in on the joke being played out. So, there's a saving grace. Get the popcorn & Skittles!
Man. Matchbox and Days of Thunder 2 coming out? I'm in. There's also a new movie coming out called the Mongoose, though I don't know if there will be any toys of that movie. Imma get the Mars Pods!
A modern 'F&F' style car movie isn't what comes to mind when I think of MBX, but who am I? Looks like its made to appeal to the younger crowd so it still should bring a little attention to the hobby and sell some product regardless.
