Good Afternoon Race Fans and welcome back to Lovely New London, Ct. Its a beautiful day here as we sit beneath the Spire of St. Joseph's Parish on this Devine Mercy Sunday. I haven't been keeping up with the discussions here lately as I've been busy with the new job. I see that the FOTF executives have been stirring up some controversy over the idea of Double Elimination Racing. As the majority doesn't seem to want us racing a different format from other venues, we'll race them Single Elimination as requested. I would like it noted though, that Doulbe Elimination is definitely a better way to determine which cars are actually faster. I personally have always found it a shame to think that the 2nd fastest car in a group could come in last place just because it raced the fastest car in the 1st race. At the clubs like the Lincoln Johnny Lightning Race Club or The Rhode Island Hot Wheels Club, single elimination is required just because of the large amounts of cars entered in each class, but when you're talking about 20 to 40 cars like we usually have and only one class, Doulbe Elimination should be the format of choice. In some series the formats have seemingly been "Venue's Choice", but that does not seem to be the case here. As stated before, today's event will be Single Elimination to apease the masses. FOTF Speedway is nearly ready for todays racing action. The Feature Race today will be the Middle Weight Challenge, followed by several Time Trials and Qualifying races for vehicles attempting to join the FOTF and Sinisterdog Teams. Some of our established drivers will be racing their vehicles today as well. In keeping with The Boston Red Sox and Fenway Park to our north, all vendors will be selling food at steep discounts for all of our patrons. The grand stand is filling up and the parking lot appears full, so all of you lucky enough to be on hand, settle in, grab a cold drink and enjoy the racing. I will be posting again soon with a full detail of the track's dimentions and layout. Upon completion of the feature race, either FOTF or myself will post results. Good Luck to all of the drivers and teams.

For the inquiring minds that want to know:
FOTF Speedway sits in a fine Victorian Home a stones throw away from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Lovely New London Ct. When set up, it spans most of the Living and Dining rooms of the house. As currently constituted, Drag Tracks are used for the road bed. The cars leave from a starting gate custom built by Sloppy Jalopy Race Systems out of Auburn, ME, made even sloppier by the track hands at FOTF Speedway (sorry Smitty). The starting gate sits 44 inches off the ground on Galvanized Steel Conduit Piping. The track drops 60 inches at a 40* angle into a 16 inch transition track. It then goes out 171.5 inches of horizontal straight track through a Sloppy Jalopy finsh line and into a Custom Made FOTF Catch box constructed mainly of Wood and Foam. The total lenght of racing porion of the track is 247.5 inches which if my calculations are correct is a 1/64th scale Quarter Mile Speedway.

Nice work on the description of your home track. Nice to see how things differ from our own tracks and to visualize where it's all going down! Good job.
