Middleweight Challenge II (Feb 9 Series Start)
Here'e my 2 centsI think the double elimination would be fun for those whose car's dont see many wins. I always say, "the more racing, the better". As for scoring and points, I think they should remain constant throughout the series. What I'm suggesting is...
Race double elimination, but I'll make sure its scored only in the winners bracket.
Does that sound all right to everyone?
We race, give you the results as they come, and just let you deal with points? That doesn't sound bad. However, it doesn't really make sense to do double-elimination at all, if the winners will be the only ones getting points anyway.
Bill, again, I thank you for your opinion. I see your angle--this system has worked fine. Double-elimination just seems fairer in my mind--even unseeded. Besides, it would only be one (or two, depending on what Smitty does) week differing from the norm...and that right there is what FOTF does best.
Once more, I leave it up to TLD.
IMO, this should not even be an issue this late in a series.
You get the cars, you race the cars, you send the cars to the next in line.
. . . differing from the norm...and that right there is what FOTF does best.
Again, IMO, the best time for this is when you're starting a series, not in the middle of someone elses.
Yes, Proffessor Plum drives a Tucker, and neither Mustang is a Shelby; however, SD's is an '05, and mine is a '10.
The points look good! How is it going to work for double-elimination?
This was from Feb. 16th. I never got an answer.
YOU are starting a series, not in the middle of someone elses.
Why are you so against double-elimination--especially after TLD said he was fine with it? I gave you a very good chance to sort this out on February 16th.
I'm done arguing about this. What do you think, TLD, after hearing more opinions?
I'm not against double elimination tournaments at all, sorry that you missed my point.
I am against "differing from the norm" after seven races in a tournament.
Maybe it's just me, I dunno!
Yes, Carl is right...and this has come up in previous race series (and we've always stuck with the way things were when the series starts). We should just stick with the single eliminations.
If the scoring is done a certain way for most of the series...long story short. Rules are rules and we shouldn't go changing them in the middle of a series.
yeah, I think it should be run the same as well. If the scoring is different for one series, that puts more weight on that event as compared to the rest. Doing well in that one event, would equate to more points then doing well on someone elses track. Kinda unfair imo!
TLD's decision is the final decision, but my idea could compromise both parties. What im suggesting is we score it THE EXACT SAME WAY as the other races. The double elim. bracket would be just for fun, so some losers can get to see their cars race some more. NO POINTS would be awarded to any of the cars in the loser bracket. Everything would work out and remain fair and constant.
I don't have a problem with that.
Okay, normal scoring it is. What TLD says goes, and I see what WorpeX means about one different race. I also think Jiggles has a good point--give points as usual, but also get a chance to see how all of the cars stack up.

I did say I didn't know if it would affect the points. If it doesn't it's no big deal. I haven't been doing this long enough to know whether it might change things. I was also questioning changing the venue from single to double, after running the previous races single. There's 23 people that are bound to have a different opinion. I'm not trying to start anything, I'm just a big believer in "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". But you're right, it is TLD's call, and if he doesn't have a problem with it being changed, so be it.
