My Fastest Car Isn't The Fastest Anymore

Preacher Saturday, 2/23/2013

Something weird happened tonight as I was testing my track for Sunday's Big race. I was looking for a fast car for my son to race, and came across a Porsche Carrera GT FTE and it smoked my Fastest car (CCM) by 1/2 car length...Wow! It got me thinking...do you ever find your cars switching positions, as far as the fastest one of the bunch? Maybe its the weather, or time of the year, temperature or tilt of the earth...I really don't know. Has anyone else here ever had this happen...just wondering?

Yeah, that happens ALL the time with my FTEs. I have a group of like 5 or 6 which are constantly swapping spots as the fastest, Triumph FTE, Lancer FTE, Italia FTE, Javelin FTE and What 4 2 FTE. lol Haven't raced them in a few months but last I checked the Lancer/Triumph were the kings.

I believe those two cars recently knocked out a couple of my fastest cars in the R.N.L.

Yep.

My Race Aces Chrysler 300c Hemi used to be the fastest of the bunch. but now it's just mediocre.

The "Races Aces' 300c only weighs like 30 grams. Add some weight and it will go!

Has anyone ever done some actual times on the cars, to see if its the car slowing down or the competition is getting faster?

This is one of the most intriguing aspects of racing Hot Wheels. I have experienced all of the above and noticed a few other factors. Every FTE I have takes one or two runs to warm up! After that they usually out pace everything else. I have also noted that the previously fastest cars also will come back later on and be the fastest car again!

I have the Dragtrack set on my wish list for Christmas - so actually times maybe a task for next year!

...
just so you know, EXPERT RACERS / DRAG TRACKS automatically adds re-action time to your ET... they may have a "new set up" that does not combine the times... choose wisely

Yes, I noticed that there are several different levels of electronics. I am hoping for all the available bells and whistles!

Some of you my know from another thread - that I have been running some cars backwards - in my race box of 36 cars! Well, I flipped them all around to race forward with the others and have re-run everyone over the last 3 days. As expected most of them fell down in the rankings a few spots.

One moved up from 20th to the top 6 (a lightweight Pony Up), but yesterday dropped out of the rankings! Maybe my first break down as it will not run forwards any more either. Time for an inspection and rebuild.

On the other hand, I have had two that have come from the back to the top 12!!! (Lotus Concept and a Ford GT LM) One of them has moved over 30 places to be in the top 6 even (the GT)!!!!

Just another intriguing aspect of die cast racing!!!!!
