My new start gate

Jobe Tuesday, 7/20/2010

I'm still working on it, but so far it works pretty well. Flip the top back for racing action. I've hooked up a string and run some eye hooks down the side of the track so I can operate it from the finish line if I want.

Also you will see in the background, my newly purchased 50' track pack fresh from ebay, still sealed with the two cars.

Looks good Bryan! I think you'll really appreciate the precise start release with this type of gate. Good job!

Me too! I tried to score a 50' track pack twice on eBay and got outbit at the very last second both times!

Lucky!!!

I got lucky with this one, it had just been listed with a buy it now that was reasonable, so I bought it.

Now to find a place I can layout a two lane 50' long track!

Very nice starting gate. Also, congrats on the 50' track score from eBay. I also tried to get one before I ended up getting the BluTrack, but I got outbid at the last second too.

I ended up getting the BluTrack

So how do you like the bluTrack? What's the report, good and bad?

My experience with Blutrack is good - it's a good track and a good product, but it's compatibility with other toy lines is an issue for me. If can build a custom finish line or find one at a decent price that will fit with Blutrack, I might consider using it because it is a nice, single-piece track.

Update on my new gate finally put some of the finishing touches on it.

Recessed the magnet into the wood block and superglued the other magnet onto the plexi.
Also slightly rounded the corners of the plexi.
Now you can see how I have 2 short sections of track and a connector attached to the wood to receive the 25' rolls. Works great, no bolts needed. I just used a nice nail through the track and the hole in the connector to keep it in place.

I might put some lane numbers on the track or starting gate tonight.
