nascarkeith's new project "Haulin' House" Finished
Hello, all! I am new to the community. Thanks for having me.
I was just recently introduced to the world of racing and modding Hotwheels. I always thought they were just a toy or collector's item. I have been building scale model kits for about 13 years and moved from that into building scale RC vehicles. With the price on those and the current state of the economy I was happy to find a more economical and equally enjoyable hobby.
Here is my first attempt at customizing a Hotwheels. I started with a FJ Cruiser and repainted it and added some detail.
My next project was a Chevelle. I cut the hood off, sprayed some paint, and added some detailing.
I'm currently working on a Ford wagon dragster.
I hope to build a custom flatbed and something cool to go on the back. I am open to criticism, advice, and encouragement.
Here are a few cars I picked up because they were cool and race them on our little track with my daughter.
Thanks for letting me post in your community!

Thanks! Did the pictures display correctly for you? They are showing half the picture and are way too big on my computer. They show correctly on Photobucket.
Welcome to the community Keith!
Nice looking customs you've got there
Be sure and let us know how the others work out.
And did you say 'racing'? You sure came to the right place!

You have to reduce the size to 600 wide on photobucket, then post 'em here.
Welcome! Nice customs you got!
welcome aboard, and carl is right you came to the right place... see you in lane two !
I'm fairly new myself, but welcome aboard. Your FJ is much better looking the the stock version. Very nice job on the Chevelle with popping the motor in there. Looks really good in the black. These two are my favorites but the rest look great as well.
Thanks, everyone! I appreciate the feedback. The Chevelle actually had the motor in there. I just cut the hood off who you could see it. It was the one that had the plastic see through body.
A couple questions.
What do you look for when choosing a race car? I would assume bigger wheels and heavy.
Do the FTE or HSW really make a difference?
Are the Thrill Racers that say they are for the track any better?
Glad to see you got the pic thing figures out.
Do the FTE or HSW really make a difference?
The earlier FTE wheels seem to be a little better, especially on the lighter weight cars.
To my knowledge nobody on this site has had any luck with the HSWs.
No better way to learn than to get started racing with us!
There are two events coming up soon. Take a look at this thread:

Carl, what is odd is that I haven't messed with the pics. They were edited and resized when I posted them. Something crazy is going on with Photobucket.
Thanks for the wheel info. My daughter has been racing a blue Cobra roadster that someone gave her for Christmas last year. Just noticed the shiny, 5 spoke, gold wheels.
We picked up a few more cars today. One of which is an Impala that is junk. The rest are pretty cool. My favorite out of the new bunch is the Boneshaker. I was surprised at its speed as well.
Remember this little guy?
He now looks a little more classy.
I also made some progress on my dragster.
Thanks again guys for having this cool online community and being so nice to the new guy.
Speaking for everyone here, you're welcome!
Those last photos are real big!
Here's what I've had to do in Photobucket. After resizing the pic I had to 'save a copy' and give it another name then post the resized renamed pic. When I first started puting up PB pics the same thing happened.
PS: Just so you'll know, that's not a Chevy Nomad. It's a Ford Ranch Wagon. Hope to see the new pics soon!
i like the filled roof on the " FO-MAD" ... i narrowed a delivery version of one of those.... now to find it !
Nice job! Welcome!
