New Track

My buddy just sent me a pic of the new track he is building me out of aluminum/plastic. It is two sheets of really thin aluminum with a plastic sandwiched between it. I can not wait to get my hands on this thing. The picture is a little blurry but here it is.

You can see at the top of the track the four pieces of track I gave him for measurement purposes. I am planning on building a stand to set it on with a starting box built on to the stand. Now my next problem is a finish line.

very nice work... Indy 500 roll up raceway's 2 lane finish mounted to a dual lane lap counter... they work well, hasn't failed yet...easy to make...

I ordered a vintage two lane finish line off ebay this morning and figured I could use it on the middle two lanes for now. I would like to figure out something that would work for all four lanes eventually. I am going to have to pick up some more track now. I had enough for a decent size two lane track. I had no intentions for a 4 lane but I couldn't pass this deal up. My buddy said he made himself one also for his kids. I am seriously thinking of having him build me a 16' track (that is how long the material starts out) and just keep it at school where I have room for giant ramp. That way if I ever get the school club going, I won't have to haul my track back and forth.

FOUR LANE FOLDING RACEWAY HAS A FOUR LANE FINISH... BUT I DON'T HOW TO ADAPT IT TO H W ORANGE...
VINTAGE 2 LANE FINISH LINE IS A BIT OF A PAIN TO RESET EACH PASS... I LIKE THE INDY 500 BECAUSE YOU JUST PRESS THE WINNING LANE'S FLAG BACK DOWN TO RESET...Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

My son has a baseball tournament in the same town as the nearest TRU this weekend. I will have to see if I can find one of those if the vintage one is a pain.

WHOA... the indy 500 roll up is what you want... but I couldn't find a picture...
the toyz r us is short and narrows at the top, hits on some trucks...also the paddles are shorter on the toyz r us than the indy...
get the indy 500 unit ...mine was $20.00 through amazon...
I cut off the finish and then duct tape the roll up lanes together, leave a 2" x 2" duct tape tab on both sides to anchor the track [bricks ?] so kids can still play with it...
new INDY 500 roll up raceway at amazon... was $20.00 ...on sale for $16.95... [3] left...

Another option would be the HW six lane finish gate. I believe it was Preacher who determined you could hold up any one of the finish lane tabs and the others would still work - at least posted about it. Meaning you could use lanes 2, 3, 4 and 5 and have lanes 1 and 6 rest on top of the sides.

Did he leave a bit of play inside the trough? (Track widths vary from pack to pack.)

Not sure about fit yet. I am making plans as we speak on when I can pick it up. I did say not to squeeze them in there but I don't know how tight the fit is. Hopefully its okay. I gave him a pack of the new track with the button connectors. My plan was to go by TRU and buy some of the longer pieces to use. Guess I will have to mess around and see which type fits best. I have the arrow track pieces mostly right now.

That track looks pretty awesome, nice and sturdy. It should last you forever. I'm guessing it'll be all-weather then too so you could play with that outside, inside, during a tornado or whatever. Can't wait to see more!

Just got home with it and put all the track together I had. Right now, I only have 8' of ramp and 3' of flat. Unfortuantely I have to be back at school for a meeting. I snapped a few quick pics with the phone. Sorry for the glare from the windows. The part of my basement that is finished is L shaped. I just set one end of the track on top of a speaker for now. This is in the end of the L that is a mess. Going to do some cleaning and reorganizing but for now, here is the track from the finish line end.

Here is looking down the track from the starting end.

Here is the end where I used the arrow track that I had.

And here is the end with the new button track.

Plenty of room for any kind of track. My boys are going to love this.
