Off Roadarama
Got a tip while working at the Silver Café a couple I know brought me a "Power Panel" with the knobby wheels. I thanked them while thinking I will have to modify this ride a lot to make it a viable racer. Instead of that I thought I would run a tournament, maybe in April after Spokane thaws out and run a knobby tire only race with a hill in the middle of the straight away. I would make getting over the hill not an easy thing to do, by experimenting. The race would finish after the hill on the flat. This is just rudimentary so far but I would appreciate ideas.

I love the sound of this idea! I've got a couple questions though: 1. Would Matchbox vehicles be allowed? 2. Would Johnny Lightning vehicles be allowed? 3. Does the vehicle have to come from the factory with treaded wheels? 4. Would $uper Treasure Hunts be allowed?
Answers 1: yes, 2: yes, 3: no this is a modding league, 4: Yes so far....

Cool thanks, I was just joking about the $uper Treasure Hunt though
Another idea I want to throw out there....RUBBER TIRE race. Just a thought...it would make for some slow-yet-interesting racing.
Great idea! Power Panel, Toyo Tundra, Sandblaster, etc...should be fun.
Baja Beetle might be a fun one to build for this event
I have a few off road potential candidates...and one of the slot car tracks I unearthed has two snap in hills - an open lane venue in the making!
Also, could the "rubber tire" event allow stock racers - even though this is a modding league - you might get more entries. I do have a project car on the mod "to do list" that needs a rear axle tweak, if it gels into a drilled race format!
Mark, are you telling me that you would race with the Evil Skeletor? (Stupid joke about the Orange '57 Buick's package art.)
I guess so! I know I have heard the name Skeletor before - he is the one riding the "Werewolf" (?) right? I traded another club member one of my Vettes. As his Buick wouldn't run down the track at one of our past race events.
I don't see why not allow stocks in a runner tire race; but as for stocks or mods, I would highly advise testing your cars before you sent them in. If you wanted a really ridiculous race, you could make it open-track (an idea which I also like for the knobby tire race).
By the way, Milton--you say you go to a racing club? Does it allow mail-ins?
- you might get more entries.
And that's the reason! Some start racing stockers then tinker with mods and some have no desire or the tools/skills necessary to mod.

FOTF, while you may bring up good points, this thread is "Off Roadarama".
Please start another thread for your discussion (it will make it easier to find later).
