Open Track diecast racing
Ive been working on my own open track and I have some videos of my raceway. I have three sizzler tack sets, however im looking for more, the videos are short but the racing looks good!

Volume may be a tad loud so turn it own before you start
Nice, Mcjiggles9! Let me know if you can get `em 3-deep in the curve.
The HW video car uses AVI format which imports to Windows Movie Maker if you have Windows. I don't know what cool stuff comes with the HW software, but WMM has slo-mo and other effects to enhance the onboard vids. One problem with gravity-powered cars is that they hit the curve (or wall) at max speed which almost blacks out the best part(s) of the clip. Also, if you can run 3 cars you can run 10. And if you can have 2 straights and 1 turn you can have 4 straights and 3 turns. Add a funnel finish and your there!

Thanks, George. I'm slowly getting the hang of the whole 'video editing' thing, but I wouldn't mind using some other effects.
Here's my latest vid featuring some more 'close-up' chase footage...including a 'Thomassima 3', a 'Flight `03', and the distinct orange wheels of a 'RocketFire' volcano racer.
This track has been an awful lot of fun. I had to disassemble it tonight because I'm having guests over tomorrow, but it will be reconstructed with a few improvements soon.
Been trying to think of some metal item that would make a banked turn for my next track project. I want wider radius turns that are dished instead of just banked. A charcoal cooker has the walls already but is not dished enough. My FIRE PIT! It is like a big wok! Split it in half with a sawzall and weld the outside walls. 2 turns out of one pit. Model train grass on the infield. Use metal stud runners for the straights like my current track but 2-3 times as long. I'm on it!
Sounds great, George. I was mentioning some of my track specs to a friend of mine who's into home construction. He suggested durometer(hardness) are customizable through certain mfgrs. I might be able to have a smooth, hard surface with tiny parallel ridges made to my specs after all. Hmmmmm...
I only use metal because it can be welded and the seams bondo'd for a seamless racing surface. And the walls can take a pounding. Plus there's nothing in Hot Wheels racing that compares to the sound of 40 wheels on metal!

MY EARLY JOHNNIE LIGHTNING TRACK [ RED, 2 LANE ] HAD A RAISED 1/4" WIDE RIDGE ALONG ONE EDGE... J.L. HAS LOTS OF NARROW CARS...???

I'm trying to simulate the small ridges on 'Fat Track' that run the length of the track. They're just tall enough help keep the cars pointed forward but aren't high enough to completely restrict lateral movement. Without them, the chaos on the track would make cars appear to be racing on ice.
Someone suggested on another thread that dipping thread in glue and pulling it straight might work as ridges.

...uh oh, I think may have just increased the demand for Fat track. (lol )
Here are some more open track chases...I'm beginning to get better with the release timing.
