Award points for wins.

The league I am in awards points for 1st through 4th. 10, 6, 3, 1 and they take the winning car until the end of the year.

Jason will have to explain the point system used in his Hardcore Downhill Series.
We are going to try something a little different in the Featherweight Challenge Series.

My suggestion would be to have a series of points races. So have a points winner per event/tournament but then retain those points for a set number of events. This will encourage people to return and keep racing.

It's a suggestion I made Jobe when he was doing his tavern races...print up some little score cards (like a golf card) and put your logo on it along with places for people to jot down their scores from a tournament. They can keep the card and update each event so they have a record as well. It doesn't really "do" anything aside from giving them an actual item and another attachment to your brand and events.

And if you're racing for points then I think most people would assume there's a prize at the end of the series. If you can swing real schwag prizes from sponsors or whatever, great, but don't underestimate the power of something simple that does nothing but reinforce the feeling of being awesome...like a certificate or something. Cheap trophies are out there and you can buy the print-your-own certificate at Staples. It's something to show off, especially if you have kids in your events, they'll love it.

SMALL VYNAL EVENT STICKERS WAS A COOL ADDITION, AS WE GIVE THEM OUT TO THE KIDS WHEN THEY LOST... INSTANT CHANGE FROM SULKING TO SMILES... GENERIC, UNDATED SO THEY CAN BE USED AT OTHER EVENTS...
.EXAMPLES ; "NATIONALS EAST"... NORTHEAST NATIONALS, WINTER NATS, SUMMER NATS, ....
. ABOUT $ .20 EA. THEN, .... NOW ?

Love the score card idea... I have to do that... It would also keep everyone involved.

Also, where do you get the vinyl stickers?

i have a couple friends that are in the trade... talk to your local guy, tell him about the kids, see if he will print your stickers on leftover scrap material... some will.

I've ordered basic stickers from StickerGuy.com that were fairly cheap for black/white. The more colors you want the more expensive it is. The stickers Jobe got for Austin Drags are sweet, die cut and bad ass.

You could copy some variation of big-time drag racing's point system like NHRA.
