Product Review Request

Flash Monday, 6/13/2016

I want to build a 2-lane straightaway race track.  I want a scale quarter-mile (20.625 feet).  It needs to be something I can put away or transport conveniently and still have no or very little lane bias.

I've narrowed my choices to the BluTrack products.  After reading their product information here: http://www.blutrack.com/pages/general-faqs#differ, and regarding lane widths here: http://www.blutrack.com/pages/general-faqs#lanewidth.

I'm more confused than before.  Please advise me as to which product would best serve my needs. Do you recommend I get 24 feet of Performance series or 50 feet of Pro? Anyone?

Discussion

I'd say Performance for the narrower lanes.  Even most loaders and dump trucks should still fit, but measure your cars if you're interested racing odd things.  Also, you don't have buy so much extra that way.

I don't know if one is easier than the other to get to lay flat.

Drag Tracks sections are much harder plastic and 20" long... The upper end [male] of each section is slightly wider than the lower end [female], so they don't have problems at the track unions... They cost about $20 for [4] 20" sections... The scale 1/4 mile is 20' 6", just over 10 sections, have to buy 12...

I would run it as a "sag track" [c10] rather than an 'incline, transfer and runout'...

Slower is easier to video, and looks better in slo-mo...

i use a sloppy starter, DT track and a micro-wizzard timer... c10 uses the same with a 3 D BOT finishline unit.

i got a large suitcase to store / carry mine around for $5.00 at a flea market........ just my $0.02 ...

One thing you should consider is the difficulty in getting the continuous track to lay flat.  If you're going to be rolling it up to put it away or transport it, remember that it is dang hard to get that stuff to lay flat when you unroll it. Just my opinion, but if you are ok with just two lanes, dragtracks is the way to go for a pack up or transportable track.

  • Again, Diecast Dragsters has 50 ft we lay out, we get it hot in hot water, lay out semi-wet, then dry on the slab. — gtaman
