Racing Team / Driver names

Kb3YKM Saturday, 7/1/2023

New guy here.
I have only been watching videos of races for a week. There are several race teams and driver names that stand out.
Is it typical to
1: Only have one race team name to run under and then change driver names to match paint themes
Or 2: Have a couple of team names to match a single driver and paint theme?

It is most common that everyone stays under one team that just has multiple drivers, some keep a consistent paint theme like R-lo and Mr.Darq while others like myself will have different colors depending on who's the one driving (for example I kingjester am always driving a green car where as my lil sis princessjester is always in a purple car)

  • This makes sense. Thank you — Kb3YKM

100% depends on event entry rules. Most folks have one team/driver name that they use frequently. Some events will allow for multiple entries which is where you will see the various driver names from the same team. My personal favorite is to make up driver names based on the event or theme.

my internet personna is/was/ and will always be dr dodge
driven mopars since I was 16, mopar or no car (wife abides by the rules, too)
first car '72 challenger, bought 79, still own it 400k miles so far

dr dodge came from, in the early '80's a very good friend (Shane) called me
repair his automatic transmission in a dukes of hazard charger, please help,
they installed a shift kit, and it didn't work, they had another valve body
hoped I could solve it, fixed the valve body,
and took the extra  partsin the kit, some used the parts, stuff I had,
and turned the other one into a reverse auto, full drag manual (worth about $200-300 back then)
he looked at me and said, "you are dr dodge."
it's stuck for 40 years

the drivers are sisters of the diecast, if there are girls in the cars
all the names are real people friends and family, if they want to play
sometimes public sometimes not
often it's pretty funny, among the family, with racing outcomes

anyway the story of the name "dr dodge"
and "sisters of the diecast"  the girls of heavy metal

dr

  • Hey, if it fits; run with it. Thank you for sharing your history. The insight may help with selecting a name — Kb3YKM
  • I was raised on Ford and Mopar, both made great cars in the 60s/early 70s. I will admit to being more partial to the Mopar side as I have two sitting in my garage, a '73 Satellite and a '70 Challenger. — BadWoolRacing
  • still have vintage mopars, too 72 dart, 72 challenger, 74 charger, 72 1 ton pickup, 59 w500 dodge military fire truck, '38 nash on a '72 1/2 ton truck chassis, too many things to do in a mans lifettime...lol — dr_dodge

My Youtube handle is Redline Salvage Inc. (derived from way too many busted redlines) It's also my race team name. My drivers are my grandkids. That's how "Terrance Jr." got famous. He loves hearing his name in YT diecast vids.

  • thats cool — dr_dodge
  • I agree with the Doctor, that is cool — Kb3YKM

I build everything under the team name "DeeZaster DC"

DeeZaster Jakk, DeeJay and AJ Thomas just a couple of the drivers for my team.

I also build for "guest driver's" from other tracks and other teams.

I have been CanadianSTIG long before I got into the diecast racing scene and hobby. I love the older TopGear BBC show. I remember an episode when they were In Australia,  (I don't remember which host) popped the trunk and out sprang AuzzySTIG. An other episode had kung-fu fighting ChiniesSTIG. I there may have been an AMERICAN STIG episode. So being Canadian and I needed a character driver name for  FAST & FURIOUS 6 phone game, I picked CanadianSTIG. I have carried that name through FF7, CSR 2, NEED FOR SPEED No Limits. Ashfault 9. All these games had LINE app chat rooms. I am CanadianSTIG there too. I was on teams that were usually in the top 25% on line. I grew tired of the hard work it stated to become with all the chest codes people started running. And people were pushing to spend to much money on nothing tangible.

So naturally I brought the name here when I discovered Caose Canyon first  & then 3D Botmaker. FlatRabit was my third discovery, which sealed the deal. I had to start building tracks. I haven't been able to afford to mail cars out more than once. I have entered as many name your rides as I can find before they filled up. I have spent my meager funds on building 6 track over the past 3 years. 4 big out door drags and 2 indoor cornering tracks. I have built nearly 15 cars for home use with More than 20 planned, and these I Will work harder to make sure I get mailed out. I have had 5 cars ready to mail, but I'm too broke to justify $30.00 Canadian to mail out a car. I I've maybe 3 or 4 hours north of Spokane Washington in BC. Cnd. It cost me $26.75 to mail two bone stock Majorette to Seattle.
