Wow, sounds like this would be a great visit and trip. I have an older sister who lives in Newton Kansas just down the road from Wichita. Would probably fly in on Tuesday rent a car and head to Newton for a couple of days. I'll put this at a 3 for interest, I have to wait until August or so to see where things are at financially and in the world in general.

Thanks Mark

I'll put my 3 here. 16 hour drive no sweat! Get to see GTR's tracks in person and meet some die cast legends....priceless! Will do what I need to make it happen. I can also taxi a few people around if necessary.

Man, I wish I can join you all in Wichita in November, but I have a lot of stuff to work on which'll take time.

Hopefully, I get to see you all next time a meet 'n greet's happening!

Cheers!

That will be so cool! Everyone hanging out, racing, talking about various Hot Wheels topics. However, I will be in Atlanta that weekend. Good luck and I wish everyone an awesome time!

Wow, it's been a while since I've done a cross-country hobby excursion. But this almost seems too good to pass up. Count me in as a firm 3 and I'll explore how realistic I can make this become.

I Said This as the First Comment, But Mine's Gonna Be a 3 to 4 if That's an Option, It'll Be a Challenge to Get There... I'll Have to Schedule a Day Off From School, & I'll Probably Go By Train Since I Don't Have a Passport Yet, I'll See What'll Play Out...

I like this idea very much. I'm a 3.5 for sure. Anybody from the Northeast wanna carpool in your car?  Not sure mine is fit for such a long trip. I've got gas money and I'll buy the lunches :)

  • I'm in SE Pa (Philly burbs). Would you consider spitting a rental & gas? Just an idea. — GspeedR
  • I have thought about a rental. It would cost around 650 to rent one for 4 days — ChaseFamilyRacing

9 hr ride for me , so gotta pass

what a great idea!

we should do stuff like this (show meet ups)  other places

  • Yes. How about a West Coast meet-up? I am in Washington state, so it is a bit far. Going to Branson in a couple of weeks, but that is the only place I know in that part of the country. Can't do two trips in a year like that. But a West Coast option would be cool. — RacerGnome
  • I'm going to Branson tomorrow! — ManiacMotorsports
  • Hey, I'm about 2hr north of Branson in Collins,MO — JBlotner42
  • Sounds like Branson is where we ought to meet up! LOL! 2017 was the last time we were there. — GravityThrottleRacing
  • the dirt co I worked for built the first mcdonalds on the bagnal damn site of the ozark lake — dr_dodge

My reality...~1300 miles one way, 20+ hours by car each way. Taking the time off from work shouldn't be an issue in November. I may also be owning a newer, more fuel efficient vehicle this Summer or I could consider a rental. I'd prefer to travel by car since it would allow me to transport more and bring more home without penalty. But I must also factor in the physical toll...I'm no spring chicken anymore.

Greyhound bus from a local terminal is ~$135 each way, ~34hrs each way w/3 change-overs.(could be timing issues) But I would still need a rental car in Wichita and there would be additional charges for heavy luggage.

A train ride to Wichita is remarkably similar in price and travel time as Greyhound and the rental car and baggage fees remain.

I'm still shopping flights out of Allentown, PA which I'm sure will fluctuate. This would probably be the easiest on my body but the hardest on my wallet. It would also severly limit what I could bring along or take home with me.

Still plenty of time to look for deals....

ILL BE THERE FOR SURE!!!

Man what an idea! I would looove to do that but not sure if we can make it with costs of everything and total time off of work. Guess us on the east side need consider something like this as well. Great idea Mark as I know it would help strengthen the racing community and would be a lot of fun to get to meet the builders. I'm expecting pictures! :)
