Thanks everyone for your feedback.  We will definitely do this!  The dates will not change.  Expect more communications later in the year... say August.

Hey fellow diecast racers and hosts!

This is Mark at Gravity Throttle Racing in Wichita, Kansas.  What I am proposing isn't new, but I want to throw it out there and see if it sticks.

November 14-15, 2026 (that's a Sat/Sun) everyone is welcome to drive or fly to Wichita for a meet & greet.  Here is a loose agenda.

Nov 13, Friday:

  • Drive to Wichita. November is usually a great time of year to drive thru the heartland of America.  Weather is moderate, light jacket and occasional rain.
  • Fly to Wichita.  This may surprise you.  There are direct flights to Wichita from 14 major hub cities.  The airport in Wichita is a breeze to get in and out of quickly.
  • 15 passenger van.  Don't adjust your glasses.  You read right!  I will rent a 15-pax van to provide transportation during the weekend.
  • Arrive at your hotel. I will be working with hotels to get a group discount rate and will pair up friends as needed to save on cost.
  • Dinner out together.  Example: Chicken & Pickle (they have racketball courts!)

Nov 14, Saturday:

  • 3rd Annual Wichita Diecast Show.  10am to 4pm. John and Jackie own J and J's Treasures, a well stocked diecast store here in Wichita.  They play a huge role in the success of this event.  I went to the first show in 2024 and loved it! John will have some of his store items there.

  • Chris Kester (the Mad Mullet) has a portable track that he will set up for a race tournament at the show.  His track is known as Tornado Alley Speedway.  More details to come.
  • It's very possible that Erik Slan (aka Slanman Customs) will be there.  He lives 2 hours northeast of Wichita.  It's a great way to connect and do business with the Slan Meister.
  • Saturday evening at the Hoyle's house to see all three tracks, Shavano Mountain Raceway, The Great Sand Dunes, and the Thunder Country Grand Prix.  We could have a tournament, but space is very limited because I don't know how to stop making tracks.  LOL!

Nov 15, Sunday:

  • Early morning communion service for those interested.
  • Tornado Alley Speedway with Chris for more racing action.  Nearly every Sunday Chris plays host to a live tournament.
  • J and J's Treasures will be open on Sunday.  John has confirmed that he could open the store just for us!
  • Maybe we could all hop in the 15-pax van and drive to Topeka to visit Erik Slan's diecast store.

I'm proposing this event now to gauge the level of interest.  Airline ticket prices have jumped up because of what's happening with Iran at the moment.  By summertime, it could look completely different.  Please tell me what you think, how interested you are on a scale from 1 to 5 (1=not interested, 3=thinking about going, 5=I'll be there!), and what else you'd like to do.

Cheers!
Mark Hoyle @GTR

Well, well, well.

I will have to do some research on flights from the U.K. and also do some finance checks.

This is such a fantastic idea. Be an absolute honour to meet you and others from the diecast community.

Also, seeing as he has designed my new track be so great to meet Erik and say thank you in person.

Can I be a "to be continued" as I need to do some checks etc.

Consider me excited and colour me curious.

Simmo

You are a great community hobbyist Mark.

If I lived in the US I'd be there!

Cheers mate!

Haha, Nov 14 is my b-day! I'm actually in vacation right now in the next state down, so that's probably the closest I'll be this year! Good luck, and sounds like y'all will have fun!

Wow! That sounds like a packed weekend! Kansas isn't exactly across the street from Ohio and November is usually a very packed month for my family, but I'm gonna say I'm a solid 3. It would be great to meet the heart and souls of RLD including Mr. Slan since he's my official jig retailer, lol - we'll have to see how things are after this summer.

Great call out, Mark, thanks for putting it out there.
