The DRAG CAR Challenge!
Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

Both classes the casting/chassis should have a parachute or a wheelie bar. The car....should look like a drag car. You know big fat rear tires, smaller front ones....

Funny car: hinged flopper full bodied
Pro Stock: full bodied

MUST ENTER TWO CARS. ONE FOR EACH CLASS
ONE PRO-STOCK CAR & ONE FUNNY CAR
YOUR CARS MUST HAVE DIFFERENT BODIES (no two bodies alike).
STOCK OR MOD OK (IT'S MORE FUN TO MOD!).
NO EARLY REDLINE WHEELS.
CARS MUST WEIGH NOT LESS THAN 35 grams NOT MORE THAN 57 grams. PRO-STOCK CLASS
NOT LESS THAN 57 grams NOT MORE THAN 75 grams. FUNNY CAR CLASS
CARS MUST BE LESS THAN 3.5” LONG.
CARS MUST BE LESS THAN 1.25” TALL.
ONLY "DRY" LUBES ARE ALLOWED.

Traction Event (Michigan) will host the first race. March 16th.
Econocarl (Texas) March 23rd
Tastelikedirt (California) March 30th
Dadvball (Massachusetts) April 6th
Nightstalker9 (New Jersey) April 13th
FOTF (Connecticut) April 20th
Weber Cabin (Connecticut) April 27th
Everlings (Indiana) May 4th

Any other race hosts out there?

When you mail your cars please include inside the box a piece of paper with this info:
1) Redline Derby Forum Name
2) Car name/Brand/color (ex: Red/Ferrari F-40/ Hot Wheels)
3) Race Team Name
4) If you are a host please include the address you would like the race cars mailed to.
5) Return address (if you want your cars back)

"If you're not hosting a race and would like your cars returned send $5 to the host of the last race. All hosts will have their cars returned free of charge."

Cars will have to arrive in Pinckney, MI for the first race by March 13th. Shoot for getting your cars in the mail by Friday MARCH 1st. Don't wait for the last minute if you can avoid it.

I did a few modifications to my funny car entry and was concerned when I was completed that this beast might be over the limit before I added weight to it. To my surprise, I was three grams under. I can't imagine what a 75 gram car must feel like.

I can't imagine what a 75 gram car must feel like.

The first series I got involved with when I first came to Redline Derby had a 112 gram weight limit!

I'm a bit leary of adding too much weight. On tracks with a long straight-a-way all that weight can start to bleed off speed when there is still a lot of race yet to be run. I've seen heavy cars get a tremendous hole shot and then they get to watch taillights cross the finsh line ahead of them!!!

Smitty, I though of you when I considered the 40 Ford pickup prostocker......but I just could not find enough room to add that much weight to bring it up to specs.
