The Toys That Made Us series....

With the crowd on here being, mostly, of a similar age, I though you guys might like this series on Netflix.
There is nothing about Hot Wheels, but the 4 shows focus on Star Wars, Barbie, GI Joe and He-Man. So, there's lots of insights to how those toys came about. It's pretty cool stuff, but I am a bit of a geek when it comes to toys :)

The Tudor Football game where the field vibrated...classic fun on a cold winters day.

Yep...I'm the big 5-0, I was really into comics as a kid as well and the Mego dolls and Big Jim with the karate chop. I still have a decent comic collection...sold off about 20 grand worth a few years back.
One corner of my office and some of the stuff the Lady of Speed puts up with besides Hot Wheels.
I watched all 4 episodes that are up over the last few nights, really well put together, telling great stories. I hope they don't stop at the 4 because there are MANY more toys that need stories...Hot Wheels being one of them. I hope they throw in Transformers and a few others too. Only 45 minutes each so it's a quick watch to boot.

- Nice! Love the non-X-men Wolverine, my favorite. — redlinederby
- Hopefully that series covers superhero toys too, that's be sweet — redlinederby
...and having two daughters...the Monster High collection takes up all the office closet.
Hey LoS, Cool stuff! I had a comic book store in 1990-91...from there, I studied Art, and then, went to the Joe Kubert School for Cartoon and Graphic Art.
I never went into drawing comics...I really enjoyed lettering, but this was right when everything went over to being done on computer. So, I went into graphics in stead. Long story short, I ended up doing Illustrator work for Felix the Cat productions...and, in my spare time, I had started sculpting...then I got a job working for McFarlane Toys. I've been making Action figures for Todd McFarlane since 1999 :)
I've had rooms full of toys and comics, much like your pics...but, I've given away most of it. I just keep some stuff around that I like. It's cool that you are into comics...I'm sure we've had a lot of the same stuff! Anymore, I mainly just read Batman, but, I'll grab some other titles every now and then too :)
Yes, Batman is my favorite character in comicdom. I've had so many through the years and have sold...bought...sold...bought many times over. It's fun to hold on to them for awhile and then move them after awhile. I will hold my High Grade stuff for a few more years and then sell and take the Lady of Speed on a trip to wherever she wants to go.
...a little after my time, GI Joe was around for sure. I was 10 years old when Star Wars came out in 1977...so just starting to phase out of "playing with toys" age.
