Hot Wheels that are always fast
Sorry for bump, but this is a really useful thread considering the only local event I know of only allows stock HWs.
It's been mentioned before, but the Dodge Concept Car should definitely be on the list - the '03 Pride Rides variation is the car I won my first event in :)
Right now I'm contemplating buying a Drop Tops Corvette - it's got a plastic base, but it's still a good pick, right?

I picked up a timer for my first race a month ago. I have been going through all of my old and new casting trying to find the top 12 fastest in each wieght class. With the older castings I have found the F-40, Testarosa, Turbolence, Monte Carlo Concept Car, Way 2 Fast and BMW M1 to be fast. The newer castings are all lighter and slower but the Jaguar I-Pace, Silverado EV, Formula Solar and the Chevrolator are all new casting that have multiple in my different top 12 rankings.
Roadster Bite is reliably fast and handles turns well. Not much room to customize or add weight though.
The EV Silverado is quite impressive! I didn't expect it to be a high performer at all.
My original go to list for when I was out hunting at flea markets, diecast shows, etc. All of these are proven drag track worthy.

Anything on the Nissan Custom Z? Found a nice carded 5sp Gold Medal Speed variation online. It's metal on metal too, is it just not good as the other GMS cars?

I been learning from the rip n races where speed may be lurkin.. but I found out fast, it takes s lot of workin! This is good info for us with no timer yet.

My brief time with Hot Wheels has clearly shown that the fastest cars are the ones still in the package. Once the package has been opened any speed that was originally included by Mattel quickly evaporates.
