I totally forgot about the A-Team van! I have that in my stash somewhere, need to get that thing out and racing. Wish I could find another one.

Thanks to all this racing I've become a big fan of trucks and vans. I wasn't that into them before but have come appreciate their designs not only for speed but just for style.

Same here, I'm appreciating a whole different bunch of cars now since I busted the tracks out again. This darn Fire Eater Firetruck I never would have cared about, but now I have a whole new respect for...and it looks so awkward jammin' down the track beating the sleeker looking cars.

I also recently was surprised by how fast the various funny cars are. Wouldn't have suspected it with the body so loose and rattling around like they do.

Great job on the races and especially the presentation. Looking forward to more!

Quick question about your yellow Rescue Ranger as I thought it would have faired better in competition. Does it have a plastic body? I bought a five pack to get my first Rescue Ranger and the thing had a plastic body and metal chassis, just the opposite of the carded one, and it was a lot lighter too. Just curious.

I've only been racing the cars that are in good working condition (rolling good, no bent axles) sorting through a bunch of older cars and racing them, pulling out the really slow or damaged cars before I put them in competition. Putting together a "race pool". The yellow Rescue Ranger rolled real well, and was competitive with most the other older cars. It just got matched up with a fast car with FTE's to boot. I figured that was that, and it was more or less a second tier car at this point. I went back and looked at it today. It does roll good and has straight axles, but I noticed that the wheels themselves seem wobbly. As if the wheels have been worn out of round from the inside out. Too much turning on the axle I guess.

I have another Rescue Ranger (Red) that is in a 5 pack. This Five pack is interesting because it's the Blimp support team (or something like that), but there is no Blimp. In it's place is a Red Cobra. I bought this new at Target in the early 90's and there's no sign that the box has ever been opened. It's about to get opened though 'cuz I want to race that Red Rescue Ranger. I hope it's not plastic. That never occurred to me.

before i drill the rivits, i spin the wheels, and while turning tilt the car front to back, left to right, in an oblong motion... if they wobble.. it tells me the wheels are poorly cast... and if the car is worth drilling...

The Rescue Ranger is getting some new wheels after this race. They are wobblers!

I'm going to do the eight car FTE challenge next.

Next up is The 2011 FTE Shootout. I think these are all 2011 editions. Not positive. Here are the first round match ups. This is the first race on the newly extended to 23 foot track.

edit- Well, I bought all these cars in 2011.

You have most of the 2011 cars there (and a couple of 2012s). Look here for a complete list: http://hotwheels.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_2011_Hot_Wheels

Looking forward to the results. Let me be the first to pick the Ferrari as the clear winner!

Triumph is from 09--that is my pick here. Good solid wide wheel base on those cars. Bye Focal 2 is good as well in that FTE setup.

The 2010 Chevy Impala is one of my favorite castings so far of the 2012 cars and mine is really good--despite the knock on the FTE2 wheels. Mine made it to a championship race out of 32 cars I had and lost to a yellow Ferrari F40.

Love the Ferrari 458s and every silver one I have is just awesome. I am 0-3 on the blue ones though.

Agreed...my silver Italia fte is fast & quiet...my blue one is a bit slower and rattles when it rolls.

And TLD, I now own a pretty blue 'Lambo Estoque' thanks to your extensive race coverage as well as the car's unexpected success in the RDR fantasy league.

Nice. There's a few in the local Wal Mart bin here that seem to be going nowhere fast. I keep thinking about picking up another one "just in case", but always end up with something different. Too many to choose from!

I just bought that Javelin and was really surprised by how fast it is. If it can get past the Bye Focal II in the first round, my pick is the Javelin. Although the Ferrari is real fast, and the Triumph, and the...hard to pick just one.
