How to handle tie runs when alternating lanes

How do you handle a tie when 2 cars keep swapping wins when alternating lanes?

I've never had a good way to solve this problem and it's come up again in the Rookie Rally (in the first group even!). Whether it's the cars, or more likely, the track, the cars keep trading wins as they alternate lanes. I feel like after 5 or 6 trades it's clear there's not going to be a 2-in-a-row winner.

I know there's a good old fashioned coin flip but has anyone used another method that is fair and maybe solves the problem on the track? Kind of at a loss right now...

I'm open to ideas and suggestions, and will turn the solution into a standard for all future RLD events.

I take it, that a tie is called,  after 8 runs ??  My suggestions is this .... each cars runs each lane one more time ... keep track of times ... lowest combination of times is the winner.

On tracks with no timer ... is a harder call.  A coin filp has determined the winner, alot, in recent races.  1)  could just run until a racer win two in a row.

I really like what Brandon over on the Scale Racing Channel does, in filming the margin of victory. The car with the bigger beat being declared the winner.

I guess it depends if you're talking about orange-track drag strips, road courses, or something with a combination of laned and fat track.  With my track I have 2 lanes of orange track that quickly turns into fat track, and I've actually found the inside lane often does not give you any kind of advantage, so sudden death without any lane swapping works.

Without a timer it's hard to have a fair outcome. With a timer I will now use fastest time after 8 races rather than the Coin flip.
