UPDATE (3-14-2021):

Thank you to everyone who participated this season. We are no longer accepting new entries for the 2021 season. Its been a fun ride. Looking forward to next year for the 2022 season!

UPDATE (3-14-2021):

We will be closing the series a little earlier than anticipated. We are going to stop the series at 12 Prior Kings, who will then battle it out in championship tournament. We currently have 9 kings. So only 3 spots remain. There is still time to get a car in. If you are interested get them in as soon as possible. Any cars that don't make it into this tournament will either be sent home upon senders request or we will keep until we start the 2022 season. Thanks to all who have participated!

This is a king of the hill style event. 6 cars will battle it out each round for a chance at the King of the 621 title. The winner each week will be the King of the 621 and will move on to the next round until they are dethroned.

At the end of the series there will be a championship tournament will all prior Kings in order to name the King of Kings!

Race format and scoring

Each event 6 cars will have the opportunity to become the King of the 621 Track.

First Round:

  • 6 contenters race 6 races down the 621
  • Points Based: 1st: 7pts | 2nd: 5pts | 3rd: 4pts | 4th: 3pts | 5th: 2pts | 6th: 1pt
  • Top 3 cars move on to final round

Final Round:

  • 3 challengers and current King will race 4 races down the 621
  • Points Based:  1st: 5pts | 2nd: 3pts | 3rd: 2pts | 4th: 1pt
  • The winner will become the new king/retain their title

House Rules:

There are no DNFs or eliminations. All close calls are made by the house and are final. If a mistake is made, the affected driver/car could get another entry back into the series at another event (case by case basis).

Second and Third Chances:

Some cars will be afforded a second and possibly third chance to try to reach the title. This will be a case by case basis and will only be afforded to driver/cars that perform really well and may of had a tough break. Not all driver/cars will get this opportunity and it is up to the house on the decision.

Have Fun:

Please have fun with this. We are racing toy cars because we enjoy the competition and want to see how our modified cars can do against others who enjoy the hobby. If you get angry at the results keep it to yourself. We will not tolerate any hate. I don't suspect this will be an issue, but just remember we are a community who enjoy the hobby and the goal is to have fun! Cheers!

If the car is overweight they will be disqualified. We will contact the sender and see if we can't figure out a way to get it under the max weight limit.

If the car is stock and not modified in any way they will be disqualified. We will contact the sender and see if we can't figure out a way to modify the car so that it can race.

If the car is damaged when received we will contact the seller and see if we can fix it locally.

Cars will stay for the length of the series (1 year) if they manage to become the king of the 621.

Tips for Success on the 621

I've noticed a few issues with some cars that get here that pertain to their success on the track so I want to give a few tips to those looking to enter a car in the competition.

1. Weight isn't everything. This isn't a gravity drop kind of track where the weight of the car is going to build up more speed as it goes down that initial drop. The hill on the 621 is not as steep and cars slowly build up speed. Heavy cars are still competitive, but cars with less weight are just a competitive if not quicker. The jury is still out on this.

2. Front ground effects on cars is a disadvantage. The start gate on the 621 opens fast, but not lightning fast. So if your car has front ground effects, as the gate opens, that front part of the car is still waiting for the gate to fully open and other cars are starting to go. It happens fast, but is noticable if you watch some of the events. Take Note of the RX-7 in Event 1 on our Youtube page. You will see exactly what we are talking about.

3. The straighter the car rolls the better. In order to win, your car must be fast, but being straight is a key to success. There are some minor errors in the coroplast, 6-lane, and transitions that can throw the car out of balance and sideways; it happens from time to time. so the straighter your car rolls the better chance it has at not running into a competitor or a wall slowing it down.

4. Luck is still part of it. This wouldn't be diecast racing without a little bit of luck. The majority of the time , the fastest, straightest car will win. But if you are going up against some evenly matched cars, you are gonna need a little luck to take the crown as some wild things happen on the track!

There will be a 1st place prize for the winner of King of the 621. Prize TBD.

2 cars shipped out today. You should see them by monday hopefully.

  • Awesome. I usually check on Mondays for new cars. I will wait till Tuesday this next week to see if yours is in. Also, if it is in I'll take a pic and show it off in our Facebook Group! — WeRaceDiecast

Two cars (one for me and one for the wife lady) are in the mail as of today!  Important to note that she is a builder, too.  I didn't build this on her behalf.

  • Nice! I'll look for it soon. Thanks for participating Kit! — WeRaceDiecast

I like the track setup. I'm thinking the 5 car limit is spread over the year? So if I sent 1 every couple of months I'd be good?

  • Yes Sir! Just want to give some extra chances for those who might miss the mark on a car or two. — WeRaceDiecast
  • Cool. I got to finish up my cars for my October races then I'll put something together for the 621. I already have an experiment in mind for it! Take care and see ya at the races. — Peter_Bee
  • Sounds great and looking forward to it! — WeRaceDiecast

So I re-read the rules again. Its says 5 cars per household but 20 cars per team??? How does that work? I can send 5 cars from this address and 5 from another and so on as long as each residence has a different driver???

  • I suspect that this accommodates some of the teams with multiple members like Silverback Racing, Madness Motorsports, and the like. Since their people are all over the place, and not just a single builder, they might all want to enter under the team's banner. — GenX_VintageRacing
  • I'll send as many as they let me. My mom is driving my five I'm sending from here. if I can do a second five I have a second address lined up already. — CrazyEights
  • Kit explained it right! Just trying to allow more folks who want to be on the same team but live in separate locations. The series will go for a long time so there is plenty of time to send cars in. And I'm not overloaded with cars yet. I would suggest sending in a few cars and seeing how they do. Based on how they do you can send in more cars with different configurations. That way you see how they perform before sending in a lot of cars that might not do well. — WeRaceDiecast
  • If you want to send in more than 5 that is fine as long as its different drivers. But I would space it out. If I got all at once, I'm going to space them out myself to allow for others to participate. Either way, glad you are interested and look forward to seeing what you got! — WeRaceDiecast
  • I'll probably send one a month. or 10 altogether. I'll have 2 drivers for sure. — CrazyEights
  • thanks!!! — CrazyEights

Hey there! I'm putting together a few cars for this. Just got one question, as I'm a little new to it all. What does "No bearings" mean? My first thought is like ball bearings to be used as extra weight. Is that meant to be a blanket term for added weight?

  • he means no wheel bearings. there was a controversy in an open modified event that allowed a car that had wheel bearing. things erupted and now its boys have at it. he just clarifying that now so it doesn't get out of has.PS...welcome to the scene!!! — CrazyEights
  • Fascinating. I don't think I have anything like that lol. Which event was that? — MTThought
  • Diecast 64 open modified last month. — CrazyEights
  • its on youtube — CrazyEights
  • Gotcha. Thanks for the info and the welcome, hope to see you on the 621! — MTThought
  • I'll be the. EightOC Racing — CrazyEights
  • I'm not sure about the controversy lol, but ball bearing wheels do perform really well. That is not to say they can't be beat by standard wheels. But some think its unfair because the wheels cost a lot. Also, I think they look like crap on hot wheels. :) — WeRaceDiecast
  • But ya glad to have you! If you have other questions, feel free to reach out on our Facebook Group WeRaceDiecast! — WeRaceDiecast

Did you get my car yet? Last I checked it was available for pickup.

  • I usually check on Mondays and sometimes later in the week. I haven't received it yet. but looking forward to getting it tomorrow. — WeRaceDiecast
  • Just got your Fire Truck in. I'll be posting in our Facebook group here: — WeRaceDiecast

Lol! I just saw the fire truck. Its fitting. My mom loves racing. Actually helped build and maintain a Buick Skylark drag car. So its only fitting she's my driver. Being she was a volunteer fire fighter when I was a kid, a vintage MBX International Pumper should be her first ride.

  • Its a nice fire truck, I like it! Good luck in the races! I posted your competition for the next event as well. Will run the event and post it next Sunday! — WeRaceDiecast
  • cool and thanks — CrazyEights

Ran my first entry today. Very interesting. Learned a lot about this style of racing. Not your ordinary downhill racing. Causing me to step up my game.

  • Glad it inspired you to maybe try different things. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with next! — WeRaceDiecast
