Middleweight Challenge II (Feb 9 Series Start)
spanked ? ... if the sloppies were able to pass anyone their backsides would show the results of serious spankings...
another great play by play mr. announcer guy !
Nice work running these races. That is one huge bracket!
Seems bigger than it is I think because of spreading out over a few nights. I haven't been able to start until 10:30 pm and between making notes on who did what, doing (or trying) the picture thing and then posting everything it takes a little while. But I'm having a blast! Can't wait to do it again tonight. Must be the 58 year old kid in me. Quite a bit different than just running your own cars down the track.
Question for you guys that have done this many times. There has been a total of 30 races so far in this bracket (for a total of 124 individual runs down the tracks). In 28 of them the winner of the first race also won the second race. In the other two races the cars split going 1 + 1, with the winner of the 2nd race taking the 3rd race to end it. Is it odd that there haven't been more instances of the cars splitting the two races? After watching Worpex's videos for the the RNL he seems to have quite a few times where cars have to go 3, 4, 5 or more runs to decide the winner. I just thought it was little strange.
Does make for quick racing though.

Depends on the cars and how you're scoring the tiebreakers. In the redline derby, if there is a 1 to 1 split, the cars do a tiebreaker on the same lines as the first race. That generally means that the car who won race 1, will win the series. In RNL, i race 'em until one car wins on both lanes consecutively. Thus, racing goes back and forth 3, 4 or even 5 times until a winner is finally announced. Depends on the ruling, everyone has a different method.
Also if the cars aren't close in speeds, you wont get close matches (which is obvious). I haven't seen these cars race, but in the Middleweight Series 1, the cars were of a varying degree of speed so races weren't that close until the end. In RNL, almost all the cars are super crazy quick, thus making a lot of close matches.
When we did the Featherweight Series if there was a tie after two races you flipped a coin. The car on the top of the bracket called heads and the winner of the flip was in the left lane.
There was some close racing, but not even a tie. Maybe tonight?

Wow! The closest racing yet! I enlisted my 22 year old son to help me out. Keep in mind my definition of "nose" is the area from the front of the car to the front wheel. Not a lot of area on some of these cars so it tells you how close they are.
Left side.
#43 wins the first race by a nose, and the second race by a nose.
#1 wins the first race by 1/2 car length, and the second race by 3/4 car length.
#66 wins the first race by a nose, and the second race by 1/3 car length.
#20 wins the first race by a fender, but, #45 wins the second race by 1/3 car length, and the third race by 1/2 car length
Right side.
#23 wins the first race by 1/3 car length, and the second race by 3/4 car length.
#2 wins the first race by a nose. The second race is a tie. #2 wins the third race by a nose, and the 4th and deciding race by a fender.
#41 wins the first race by a fender, and the second race by a fender (much to my disappointment but congrats to 41).
#44 wins the first race by a nose, but, #9 wins the second race by a fender and the third race by 1/2 car length.
Congrats to the winners! Below is the revised bracket and I'm heading back to the track for the next round. See you all shortly.
