Possible series idea
I was just kicking an idea around today. How does a Matchbox race sound?
-Start with any Matchbox casting (Must be Matchbox body)
-Hot Wheels chassis allowed
-FTE's, High Speed, Redline, Gold Medal Speed wheels allowed
-Weight limit 61g
Please share your questions and ideas.

I think the 61g is a great ideal!
Keith you should go ahead and sign up for some other hosting gigs - get the first one out of the way and work the bugs out for your track!
I may have a few MB sitting around here...
- That is true, I guess I will have to do some thinking before I step up as a Hauler Race host first... — KandORacing
- in the olden days the guy that came up with the series idea hosted the finals, i have some matchbox cars, go k n o go ! — model40fan
Sounds good to me! I've got some decent MBXs, I could probably send a couple in.
So basically the only requirements are a Matchbox body style and the 61g weight limit?
Hmmm...I might be able to swing that. I'd probably just take apart a stock HW and slap on a MB body that fits, but hey, might work better than I think :)
FOTF, and our fearless leader of RLD....this race must happen. Race on K&O!!!
Hosting is fun, remember that's what this is all about...F U N
Stroller is in depending on what date it is.....
Sorry guys, but I'm not quite set up to do this yet. It was only an idea that I was tossing around, and it isn't set in stone. If anyone else wants to try and host this thing, go ahead!
How about if it was a one race deal? And maybe to ease the shipping the Host keeps the cars, donates them to a local charity, kids hospital, day care...??? I like this race idea, would like to see it happen.
Rough set of Rules below.
Matchbox 61g Challenge
61st anniversary of Matchbox
Double elimination
One Venue
Start with any matchbox casting
Final car must use Matchbox body at a minimum
Hot wheels chassis allowed
No wheel, or axle restrictions
Weight limit 61g
Dry lubes only
Chris, it sounds like a plan to me! Although there is one problem with the part about donating the racers locally. Smitty never sends cars to Fast Fred with lead in them, since it is more dangerous for him with his condition. If almost everyone on here uses lead to weight their cars, how would they know if they are safe to donate or not?
I emailed mom o fred, she said fred will not put any of these cars or parts in his mouth [10yrs. old] and that she was cool with me sending racers with the lead glued inside where it can't fall out... so....
I'm in!
What do you think K&O? Willing to give it a shot? If you need help shipping cars to Fred or wherever I can help out.
I do not want to force this event on you if you are not ready. Just trying to make it easier for whomever wants to host this. Giving K&O first shot since it was his idea.
Chris, you're going to think this is the stupidest reason ever to make it 61g. Last year was the Matchbox 60th anniversary, so this is the 61st year that Matchbox cars have been produced = 61g.
Sounds really dumb doesn't it? LOL
