AAAGGGGHHHHHHH.  I finished my cars today and was getting ready to head to the post office to send them out to 2seven. (Tampa is one of the few places in the country with a post office open on Sunday)

At the last minute I decided to weigh them.  I knew it was a 40 gram max but I hadn't added ANY  weight so I thought there wouldn't be a problem.  Only one of the three was below.  The other two were 46 and 48!  The middle one is making the trip.  It's not near as fast as I would like but it IS done and it does have a tacky paint job.  So, instead of a triple shot of German engineering, you get only one lonely national flag painted Porsche.

  • cool, i got a flag on my porch too... — model40fan
  • yer so punny!! lol — CrzyTrkrDude
  • I always thought, if I ever rob a bank, I would paint the getaway car like the outer 2. just so the witness's would confuse the coppers!! lo — CrzyTrkrDude

Glued my cars together last night so tonight they get some test runs and then dropped in the mail tomorrow. Sorry they're not there by the 5th. Should get there in time for the weekend.

There's a famous story about Ronnie Lott, the Hall of Fame safety for the San Francisco 49'ers, who broke his finger in a game and had the trainer cut it off at the top knuckle so he could finish.  In that warrior spirit one of my overweight Rally cars insisted on competing and promised to do whatever it took.  So Dr. Dremel gave him a slice.

Removing the spoiler and doors got him down to 41 grams here at home.  I sent him with the understanding he still may be overweight once he arrives since some devices weight slightly different.

Finally...got my cars tacked together with a few test runs and then packed and ready for shipping out tomorrow.

I've only got 2 cars on my team...a Pagani and a Ferrari. I have zero confidence in the Ferrari but I have high hopes for the Pagani. The purple Pagani actually had some thought put into it. I did an axle replacement using the 3/16 tubes and some FTES, plus added some weight for an even 40g.

The red Ferrari is just a weight mod. Didn't have time to do another axle swap so it has its original wheels with a few weights tossed in the back. I think I also nicked the tires a bit when doing some last minute grinding so I'm sure that F'd it up too. Oh well...

I should have done some solid color under the glitter too, along more coats of gloss. The glitter is very bumpy and looks pretty shotty, IMO...but it sparkles!

Team Glitter ready to roll

I sent out one car today.  Didn't get a good picture of it before sending, but it lights up, so be sure to turn it on before the race for optimal speed.  Scale is busted, so not sure what it weighs, but starting was around 40.

  • We'll, McDonalds beat ya to it, it was pre-wired for me, just needed to put in new batteries (and new wheels). — MoHasAFastCar
  • Fitting since McD's lights up bowels too — 2seven

  • I hear they are making Pepto their new nugget dipping sauce — CrzyTrkrDude

Just wanting to say GOOD LUCK  AND GOD BLESS to my fellow racers in this one.

It is my first time sending cars in that I actually built for my wife and I to compete.

I'm hoping they at least stand a chance!!

BUCKLE UP AND HAMMER DOWN!!

Have my cars arrived?  They were supposed to be there yesterday.

For the record, I say, in the spirit of competition, and for the sacrifice made by both car and builder, allow the doorless porsche to race regardless of weight!

Just wanted to put that out there before it becomes a question.

Just saying...

: )

IT'S GONNA BE A GREAT DAY OF RACEING!!!

The sloppies say let him in... tearing stuff off to [make weight / be lighter] is a must in real racing...

our club's president, who raced mustangs in the late 60's, always drained the 4 gear's tranny oil if they made the finals, weighed 2 pounds..

 let's race !

I appreciate the support.  I will say I don't believe it's a threat to win the bracket but it might win a heat.
