1st race is run, slow motion+double elimination = 30min video... Youtube is still struggling process it. Great action, and some back and forth battles. Tight field of cars, very tight.

Normal race rules, win two in a row to move on, alternating lanes, double elimination.

The second race will be taped at normal speed. It's a slower track so it should be fine.

I'll reserve any further comments till the video is up (hopefully soon)

Happy New Year! Lets kick it off with some racing! Video lighting was tough, my thumb got in the way on some, but I captured all the action...some battles lasted 7 races...a number of these cars are super close in performance...well built cars all around. Thanks for tuning and building your cars... It's been great racing with you all last year!

Please keep your comments on the winners till after all have seen the video, remember we have East, and West coast represented. No spoilers for those just tuning in.

  • Goldenrod looks amazing on the thumbnail! — Brakefluid_Tracksurgeon

And thanks TE for giving me a reason to be drunk by noon.

  • You are welcome. I'll mark the pre race pics better in the next video. — Traction-Event

Goldenrod is better a drag queen than a drag racer. Lol

  • Gotta start somewhere, lots of fast cars in this race. You have good builds, keep it up — Traction-Event
  • like real racing ...looking good losing is part of the game. — fordman

Hey TE,

Something to think about, maybe putting some 1/8" light-colored tape down the centered of each lane...out of the grooves...just to give the cars something to show up against?

Just a thought :)

  • Ya know I was thinking exactly the same thing, C10. — Stroller
  • I know the black track and dark cars don't match. it's a pain in the videos, sorry — Traction-Event
  • dollar general has glittery super thin duct tape. or even white out tape might work? — CrzyTrkrDude

Don't be sorry, TE...I have the same problem with my Drag Track. That's why I have Christmas tree lights running along side my track, to try to make the cars more visible. With slow motion really sucks up the light.

Since your track is on the floor, and you are shooting down at them, if you had some 1/8" tape running right down the middle of each lane, it wouldn't effect the cars, and you could see their positions on the track a little better.

I'll grab a roll of 1/8" masking taoe, the next time I'm in Napa, and play around a little

i'm shipping [3] 20" sections of "expert racers" track... it is the drag track's grand dad, it is the same as D T  but is "yellow"...

they are going to TE and FISHTAIL for the last 60" before the finishline for future videos... go pinckney go !

  • Let me try the tape first... Thanks for the gesture. — Traction-Event

Here is the Low N Slow Track pairings... Again random draw, Double elimination here as well. Might run these tomorrow... need to work on lighting and such.

Ok, here is a lighting test... first  race slo-mo on iPhone,  second race recorded at regular speed, then slowed down 50%, and the 3rd race is normal speed.... Personally the Slo-Mo is the best, but it turns a 5 sec video into 30sec....

As for lighting... Better, adequate?  I made sure to use dark cars. Not sure it will get much better for this event. maybe some pinstripe tape from the auto parts store tomorrow?

  • I think the middle path...50% slows the cars enough to enjoy the race — 72_Chevy_C10
  • middle. shows the action and the wiggley wall rubbing just enough. yeah... middle is just right. — CrzyTrkrDude

You can put the Batman signal lights shining down and it won't make no difference on two black cars racing on Drag Track.

There's nothing wrong with your videos, I'm sorry if implied such when I said I'm not sure who's who earlier.  Only meant I hadn't studied such before the races.

  • none taken, just trying to put out a better product. — Traction-Event

Unless yo do close ups of the races, the best way to tell near identical cars apart would be pre race shots of the cars in the starting gate.
