When do we (Javelins) get another shot at those unbeaten Valiants? It's time to knock them off their little perch!

This week, actually. Javelins vs Valiants will happen during the "Hand Me Downhill" tournament.

Hope we've all picked well, fellow Jav!

(And the schedule for the entire season can be found in the RTL: Redline Team League (Blind Trial Season) thread in this subforum: http://www.redlinederby.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=472#p2945 )

We enter the second half of the Blind Test Season knowing only that the Plymouth Valiants are very, very good. Every other team has had success and failure...and the hope to do better as we race towards the playoffs.

This would also be the first tournament for some newly signed free agents to show what they can do to help their teams win.

If that isn't enough reason to check out the RTL highlights for Tournament Eight, I don't know what is...

MATCH ONE: COUGARS at RAMBLERS

The Nash Ramblers returned to the friendly confines of Ramblers Field hoping to shrug off an unexpected two match losing streak and hold on to their shrinking lead in the La Salle Division by welcoming their division rivals, the Mercury Cougars, to town. The Cougars had reason to hope--they had signed the top available free agent, buzzkillg230rc, to try to beef up their struggling offense.

Team Captain Redline Derby pushed his Ramblers to an early lead, but the Cougars chipped and chipped away at it...and, after a newman39 held iowastockcars to only a couple points in the third quarter...it looked like the newest Cougar was in perfect position to win the game with a strong debut. The Ramblers fans could only hold their breath and hope that their 3 point lead would hold.

Whether it was nerves or zoom's stingy defense, the much ballyhooed buzzkillg230rc was held scoreless. The Cougars fall just short, the Ramblers end their losing streak and the hometown fans left happy.

The storylines of the Blind Test Season are getting rather predictable. The Ramblers have to scramble but they generally manage to earn a win, the Hornets can't seem to score and the Valiants dominate everyone.

THIS tournament, however, only one of those storylines proved accurate.

Want to know which one? You'll have to check out the RTL highlights for Tournament Nine to find out.

MATCH ONE: RAMBLERS at FIREBIRDS

An early string of victories has kept the Ramblers in the top spot in the La Salle Division. Didn't hurt that everyone else in their division struggled, of course...but now, teams like the Firebirds were getting their acts together--starting to fire on all cylinders and make life more interesting for the Ramblers. Suddenly, their spot atop the division didn't look so secure.

So, it was important that the Ramblers give their best effort when they made their way to Pontiac to take on the Firebirds on their home turf. And, to the Ramblers credit, they got scoring from each of their players. To their detriment, they didn't get that much scoring from anyone.

Still, it is well known that slow and steady can win a race...so, going into the fourth quarter, the Ramblers were only down by five--there was definitely hope that the Ramblers would scramble back to another win. The Ramblers' zoom went ahead scored six in the final quarter...and had this been the Firebirds from the beginning of the season, that probably would have been enough. But instead, the Firebirds pleased the home fans by getting exactly what they thought they were getting from their new free agent signing, 4UBRAT. Those four more points were all the Firebirds needed to earn themselves an important three point win and close the gap even closer for the La Salle Division lead.

Things are definitely getting interesting!

Roster Moves and Free Agent Signings after Tournament Nine of the Blind Trial Season

Only one team has any players eligible to be replaced after the fourth week of the RTL Blind Trial Season.

The Hudson Hornets have received no points from either Ayut or Dan Jones in the tournaments of weeks 2, 3 and 4...so they will be replaced. The top two free agents, based on most consistent participation and cumulative score are Radekal and Nightstalker

And no other teams currently have roster members who meet the replacement criteria...

So, to recap:
Hudson Hornets
releasing: Dan Jones
signing: Nightstalker

...and these roster changes will be in place starting with Tournament Ten.

Good luck, everybody!

Okay, I admit Javelin was kind of a lame super hero, but in reference to vintage Hot Wheel collecting the color pink is highly sought after
