THE ________ CUP?

Help me fill in the blank here.

Let's have a mail in race where we all race the same 2012 issue car . . . but which car?
Here's a list of the 2012 offerings: http://hotwheels.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_2012_Hot_Wheels
It would have to be a car readily available to all of us. What do y'all think?

How about these for rules:
ONE RACE, ONE CAR.
STOCK OR MOD OK (IT'S MORE FUN TO MOD!).
CARS MUST WEIGH 45 GRAMS OR LESS.
CARS MUST BE LESS THAN 3.5” LONG.
CARS MUST BE LESS THAN 1.25” TALL.
ONLY "DRY" LUBES ARE ALLOWED.
RACE 'EM IN AUGUST (don't want to take you away from building those FEATHERWEIGHTS).

This is a brilliant idea.

my three choices are ; #1 maverick, #2 torino, #3 bone shaker h w series

Bone Shaker might be hard to find.

I suggest that whatever car is chosen, the modded versions are aloud to be 2-4 grams heavier. To permit for modifications. An added engine for example. I think that JDC mentioned that the modded cars don't go any faster than the stockers and are often times slower. Maybe this will level the playing field a bit. Just a thought.

The '64 Chevelle seems pretty common.
One of the Corvettes or Mustangs seem to always be hanging.

Seems kinda silly to allow stockers for this event if its only 1 car. Would be A LOT of duplicates.

Yes, that's the '64 Chevelle. It's also available in a light silverish blue.

Not all Hot Wheels are created equally. I have several 458 Italias that I rob the wheels from for customs. I try to race them before I take the wheels (against the previously fastest Italia). I have one Italia that has beat 9 others. Sometimes it's not even close...then I wonder why the car I put the wheels on is not fast.

Yeah but, that seems kinda silly to have a bunch of people send the same car to someone else and race it when I can just go to kmart now and buy 10 of them and do the same thing. Mod only I say! Perhaps 1 stocker to serve see if any of us managed to make one faster then the stock.

Well, I believe the general idea is for everybody to start with the same car and modify it so it is faster than everybody else.

But, even if you send a stocker it's not going to be a tie for everybody.

I also think the original idea was to, maybe as an "extra" to the Gasser Wars or Featherweight Challenge send/have a race where everybody would compete with the same car and have someone figure out how to go faster than anybody else.

Even if you were to leave it "stock" you could still paint it, or color it with pens or do some bare minimum customization. Glitter anybody?

Yes, that should be a rule. At the very least, contestants should decorate their cars in some way.

I.M.O.....cut 'em up... there is plenty of racing going on which allows stockers... make this race special....
16 different stylings of the same car would be a neet photo... don't restrict modds... sans hoods, glass, allow chopped tops & convertibles... etc....
i'm thinking a monkees mobile type custom... hhmmmm.... the flunkees, or the funkees or maybe the skunkees ...?

I think the problem with one car from 2012 is that everyone sees different stock. Maybe their stores are behind because the cars don't sell well or other places have moved on and beyond the model that is picked.

Maybe a 60's70s competition. Many have been released.

So far I've heard everything from the exact same car with perhaps some decoration to personalize it, to a complete modification of the exact same car. One the one hand, I think it would be kind of interesting to see who could find the fastest version of a specific model, but that would disappoint those that want to really modify their cars. On the other hand if we go all out modification, that would perhaps limit the number of participants.
Personally, as far as my modding ability goes, I'm at the 'change the wheels and add paint' stage.
