TRANS AM Road Race - Official Thread
Hey Guys,
With the Pony Wars race set to start, I wanted to stir the pot on this thread. The Trans-Am cars and Pony Cars both share the same requirements, with the Trans-Am race allowing some different cars. So, the Pony Wars cars will be allowed to continue on into the Trans-Am series.
You can also send in completely different cars to compete in the Trans-Am race. Or, I will even allow you to send in a Trans-Am cars AND let you Pony cars continue. ..in other words, you could have up to 5 cars in the Trans-Am race (3 Ponys and 2 T/A's).
Since the Ponys will be ending here in NJ, I will run the first Trans-Am race here. Anyone that would like to host a Trans-Am race, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
I am planning on running the cars in brackets, but they will be running for time against each other...not head to head. Since it would be tricky to get the lanes even, each car will run for time on the same lane for time.
If no one else wants to host, then the Trans-Am race will be a one-shot race, rather than a series...but, I hope that we'll get some hosts.

So I checked the flea market stuff I bought. I have only one of the loop connectors. I do have 4 of the curves so I could do an S. This should even things out so both cars have a shot at the shorter inside lane. If I can come up with another loop connector that would give me two of the requirements. Or, I just do a jump at the very end and maybe the car that goes further out of the jump is the winner? I'd make sure the landing area is soft.

- I just recieved 2 loop sections from E-Bay, maybe a Double Corkscrew Loop added to the "Gauntlet" — Nightstalker
- I do believe you need only 1 lane for this one. It's a timed event like Pike's Peak — Nightstalker
I would like to host one but lack the proper room to set up a track worthy. Or if this goes over well we can do this again in the spring so we can really turn them loose outside!!!!!! I'd be in for that one.

Okay, thanks Guys, I'd like to get the schedule nailed down in the next few weeks.
OK, whats the secret to these loops? Maybe my track is too cold to bend right without a kink. or do I need 2 sections with some sort of special connector at the top? In 50 years I have never messed around with these things. lol !

Okay, this Tran-Am stuff is getting real...
My lavender Corvair showed up today...with flames! This thing is so horrible looking, I might not paint it!

Yup, this Corvair is pretty ugly...

But, a Chrysler 300 frame does fit nicely under it. The front axle position is a little off for the body, so this one is going to be an axle tube car.
I think I might have to de-tampo those flames off too! :)
You must be running low on 300C cars....or did you find a new stash?

After a little Acetone on a Q-tip and the flames are now ghost flames...

I'm away on vacation the first two weeks so it would have to be towards the end of the month.
But first I have to check my track setup. I bought some stuff at a flea market last summer but haven't really gone through anything but the straights. I'll let you know later.
